Well all I will say is that if you ask me who shot the sheriff I will have to ask my Lawyer to be present throughout the interview.

Does anyone know what the song by the verve "the drugs dont work" Is about as I had an argument that it meant a termminally ill person coming off their medication to see their beloved's face before they die.....Cheery stuff I know. He reckond it was to do with drugs and getting high or something.

Actually, the singer did shoot the sheriff. It was the question of who murdered the deputy that was in dispute. Clearly the singer is owning up to one crime but wishes justice on whoever committed the other, or else he might just as well have confessed to both - you can only be hanged once. Perhaps the singer actually liked the deputy and is upset that anyone, possibly the deputy's family, should think him capable of being so treacherous. However, the sheriff, if I understand the song correctly, deserved whatever he got.

Now, if Gloria Gaynor had been the sheriff .....

What can happen? They say a lot of things at the beginning of the song, like "You can fool yourself, You can cheat until youre blind" But i never understood the uniting theme. What is it that you must do to get to such a place? AND, once it happens to you, Then what happens?
