Plot Idea I’ve been reading fantasy for many years now and one thing i always noticed was the constant good vs evil plot lines, and the few novels with evil point of veiws were usually pretty poor or not very long It was then that i had the idea to write my own fantasy based on evils point of veiw or at least try to, so the idea and setting are as follows... The story is set in the lands of Bogswoth, several lands based around the river Ison, which are sheltered and protected by the mighty Shiverpeak Mountains. An impossible mountain range to scale, that is the source of the river Ison and shadows it along its course to the Round Sea in the north. Now ever since the end of the War of Ages and the imprisonment of the Dark Goddess Aleeso, has a individual (the Dark Lord or Lady) been selected to continue Aleeso's work and enslave the world while also trying to find and free her from her eternal prison. Now in retaliation to this the god Elandor chooses a champion from the races and he or she becomes known as the 'Wizard or Sorceress of light' a figurehead for the free races to rally behind and kill the Dark Lord. The only problem with this is that because Alesso is trapped and naturally she's a bit of a deceitful trickster the mantle of Dark Lord is cursed, making whoever kills the Dark Lord become the next Dark Lord. Now thousands of years of brutal wars and campaigns nearly brought Bogswoth to its knees until one wizard named Lelldoras rallied seven of the greatest warriors and mages to his banner and killed the current Dark Lord Kaith. However in order to stop himself becoming the next Dark Lord he refused to be healed or helped and succumbed to his wounds, and following his orders the Black Fortress was razed to the ground the dark artefacts hidden or destroyed ridding the land of Aleeso's curse forever. Now sixty years later the lands are watched by the Seven warriors and mages (more commonly known as the Seven Heroes) and the peace and prosperity have led to the Magic Revolution, a huge industrialization of the world powered by harnessing the worlds 'Energies'. Yet for the Master Mage Glaukus and his apprentice Arathos, the world is turned upside- down when the Godshand (the guardians of balance and order in all universes) appear in a dream. Telling Glaukus that the world’s Magic Revolution is draining the world’s energies and slowly killing it in the process, they threaten that if the abusive use of magic does not cease and if the balance between good and evil is not restored then they will cleanse the world of its unbalance and clean its populace of sin. Now with this in mind, Glaukus and his apprentice warn the Mages Guild of this 'vision'. Alas, to their dismay they are labelled 'a threat to world wide peace' and declared enemies of the Guild. Forced to flee and hunted down by every major nation in the north and every peasant with a farm tool, Glaukus decides that the only way to restore balance in the world, destroy the Magic Revolution and save his and his apprentices skins is to restore the legacy of the long gone Dark Lords... What do you think?

Re: Plot Idea reading it carefully, it's not actually a vision of evil vs good, as much as it is practicality vs stiff-necked obstinacy. your protagonists are obviously very misunderstood in what they're trying to achieve, but it doesn't seem to me that they are truly evil. as it stands, however, it is a good twist on the very standard blah vs bleh fantasy archetype - and it does have some resonance with our modern-day environmentalists if you think about it. well worth a try, i'd say.

Re: Plot Idea True, its not entirely good vs evil but as the two protagonists go further and further into their quest to resurect the Dark Lords the taint on the artifacts and the position of Dark Lord itself begins to corrupt the two of them, now as for the storyline in general its more complex than the mere description i included as their are many plot twists and sub plots. Now myself i see this as more a parody/humerous fantasy series as it would be pretty hard to write on an 'epic' scale, due to the setting and and plot line.
