And the idea of a massive ship interests me. It's like a floating city - with a great mystery behind it.

| Re: Book Covers Yay! I think you won't be disappointed. Robert's a fabulous author. John Jarrold (his agent) said he knew he would take the man on before he'd even finished reading the manuscript, and I can see why). Oh, I'm so pleased someone's trying it! ![]() (Although the editor in me kept spotting all the hardback book typos, since there were some glaring ones. ) |

| Re: Book Covers I must admit that not many book covers have a positive impact on me, but I tend not to judge a book... (you know the rest). As a youth I loved the work of Chris Foss and he was pretty much the top artist for SF paperbacks of the day. How can you go past this...? |

| Re: Book Covers By the way can anyone suggest any sites to find covers or information about older SF books? I've tried Fantasticfiction, Abebooks and Googled for way way to long . |

| Re: Book Covers The Jack Vance one was the first SF cover that i thought was amazing and actually looked similar to what happens in the book. The Tim Powers one is a cool one and i ordered my copy of the book with that cover despite it was very expensive. First cover that sold me a certain version of book. |

| Re: Book Covers The covers of Joe Abercrombie's series The First Law. I really like the feel of them, like parchment. Parchment with charred edges and drops of blood. |

Reusable Cover Art The Rap Sheet (They aren't specifically for sff, but it's fun to see how the art gets tweaked between different books, anyway.)

| Re: Book Covers I'm tempted to buy the Red Wolf Conspiracy now! I should really finish reading the books I have first... I like the cover of The Lies of Locke Lamora. Though I started reading the book ages ago and then moved on to something else and haven't picked it up since. ![]() |

| Re: Book Covers I've got Priestess of the White in my to-read pile! I read her debut series, The Black Magicians Triliogy, and I was very impressed (excpept for the rushed ending). I love Canavan's characterisations; I really "felt" for the characters. That's why I'm eager to try this new series of hers. My friends said she read and love it, and she also loved Black Magicians. As for Lynch, I still haven't got past page 70 something. I put the novel down a few tiems and have yet to pick it back up... ![]() I also have The Blade Itself in my to-read pile. I'm stuck which book to try after the current one I'm on. |
