![]() I can read just about everywhere, too. Most of it is done in my chair in the living room, but I read a fair bit in bed, too. Like Daisybee, I can also read when the television is on (a useful skill for me, so I can get a couple of extra hours reading in the evening ). | |

Re: Where do you read at? Like Omphalos, etc. mostly before I go to sleep. Like Clansman, have 2 children, although they're 12 and 8, so bedtime (at least for the 12 year old) is unfortunately beginning to become a negotiable thing.... *Ref's whistle blows "Encroaching on Father's Reading Time; 15 yards and loss of Chapter!"* Still, one finds a way. Alia, more power (and reading time!) to you.

Re: Where do you read at? I read anytime time i can. Mostly i like to read in the living room in the leather armchair that its in the corner almost behind the tv and beside the lamp. Usually at nights when people at home watch tv or movies i dont want waste time with. Other favorite times to read are early weekend days, every bus ride.

Re: Where do you read at? I definitely prefer paper books to ebooks or audio books. I usually read in bed at night, on the bus on the way to/from school, or on the couch when I'm particularly bored.

Re: Where do you read at? Any more I read ebooks at the comp (probably 4:1), though I still prefer paper hard copy while kicked back in a comfy chair. The ebooks I go through at about 1 evening per, the hard copy books usually take a couple of days. Enjoy!

Re: Where do you read at? I mostly read in bed or on the couch, if my bf is watching something I'm not all that engrossed in. No kids as yet, so no distractions that way. If your eyes hurt when you read from a screen, you should go to the opthalmologist. Plenty of people who manage to read from paper without glasses and don't need glasses for driving etc. can benefit from special computer glasses. Even if you're so vain you prefer to wear contacts (the idea of putting anything in my eyes grosses me out, I'd never do it) when out and about, it might be worth it getting some glasses for computer work, because people blink less when they look at a screen than they do otherwise, and contacts can irritate more than they normally would.

Re: Where do you read at? You can rescue dunked books. It takes a bit of effort, but paperbacks usually dry out okay. Currently I don't have a bath, but when I did I could lie in it for hours and soak until my skin was all wrinkly. Some of my Anne McCaffrey books can attest to spending time near or in the bath...

Even when i try to read a sample of books online i cant read on the comp no matter how much i try. Maybe i sound crazy but i think i cant read on the comp cause seeing the words on the computer screen seems flat, lifeless that cant be absorbed by my eyes. When i read a paper book with the first word of a book the words come alive and transfer me to the books world. I can sit beside a loud tv and dont even notice when i read a good paper book. Something family members and friends find really wierd. Books on the comp i can see the words for what they are and not the illusion of a book and a story. | |

Re: Where do you read at? It's paper books for me too. I appreciate online and e-books but they just don't work for me. I think I'm too caught up in the whole experience of reading a paper book. The way it feels, smells, everything. Find a comfortable position and turning the pages. Even the huge collection of bookmarks. I read in bed a lot and always read myself to sleep. Have fallen asleep reading often only to be rudely awakened by the book falling on my face. Read on public transport and quite often at social functions that I have been compelled to attend.

Re: Where do you read at? Am very much in the same boat as Connavar. I've tried other formats and they do not work for me personally. The only exception has been an audio book on very long drives when I am alone in the car on a straight highway for hours and am worried about staying awake.
