Re: Lyrics that mean something to you Made up Love Song - The Guillemots I love you through sparks and shining dragons, i do, now there's poetry, in an empty coke can. I love you through sparks and shining dragons, i do, now there's majesty, in a burnt out caravan. you got me off the paper round, just sprang out of the air, the best things come from nowhere, i love you, i don't think you care. i love you through sparks and shining dragons, i do, and the symmetry in your northern grin I love you through sparks and shining dragons, i do, i can see myself in the refill litter bin. you got me off the sofa, just sprang out of the air, the best things come from nowhere, i can't believe you care One Way - Levellers My father when I was younger Took me up to the hill That I looked down on to the city smog Above the factory spill He said this is where I come When I want to be free Well he never was in his lifetime But these words stuck with me I ran from all of this And climbed that highest hill And looked down on my life Beneath the factory spill I looked down onto my life As the family disagree Then to all my friends on the starting line Their wages off to chase and all my friends and all their jobs And all the bloody waste CHORUS I grow up, learned to love and laugh Circled A's on the underpass But the noise we thought would never stop Died a death as the punks grow up And we choked on our dreams We wrestled with our fears Running through the heartless concrete streets Chasing our ideas And the problems of the world Won't be solved by this guitar And they won't stop coming either By the life I've had so far And the bright lights of my home town Won't be getting any dinner Though their calling has receded now Like some old distant singer And they don't seem so appealing To the eyes of this poor sinner

Re: Lyrics that mean something to you How many sorrows Do you try to hide In a world of illusions That's covering your mind? I'll show you something good Oh I'll show you something good. When you open your mind You'll discover the sign That there's something You're longing to find... The miracle of love Will take away your pain When the miracle of love Comes your way again. Cruel is the night That covers up your fears. Tender is the one Who wipes away your tears. There must be a bitter breeze To make you sting so viciously- They say the greatest cowards Can hurt the most ferociously. But I'll show you something good Oh I'll show you something good. If you open your heart You can make a new start When your crumbling world falls apart.

Re: Lyrics that mean something to you lyrics of avril lavigne's 'my happy ending': Let's talk this over It's not like we're dead Was it something I did? Was it something You said? Don't leave me hanging In a city so dead Held up so high On such a breakable thread You were all the things I thought I knew And I thought we could be [Chorus] You were everything, everything that I wanted We were meant to be, supposed to be, but we lost it And all of the memories, so close to me, just fade away All this time you were pretending So much for my happy ending Oh oh, oh oh, oh oh... You've got your dumb friends I know what they say They tell you I'm difficult But so are they But they don't know me Do they even know you? All the things you hide from me All the stuff that you do. You were all the things I thought I knew And I thought we could be [Chorus] It's nice to know that you were there Thanks for acting like you cared And making me feel like I was the only one It's nice to know we had it all Thanks for watching as I fall And letting me know we were done [Chorus x2] love those lyrics ![]()

Re: Lyrics that mean something to you Scritti Politti these affect me in a big big big way I had a dream of us together In a world where we knew what was true Oh Patti don't lead the life that I left you with It's been such a long time and I know We tried together to discover Why we failed the test of our time Oh Patti don't lead the life that they made for you I'll be gone a long while and you'll know And don't feel sorry for loverboy You know he wants the world to love him, then he goes and spoils it all Don't feel sorry for loverboy He wants the world to love him, then he goes and spoils it all for love There's no one out here you can listen to And certainly never yourself (ooh) Oh Patti don't lead the life that I left you with Listen to the cars call in the rain I got so tired of concluding That there's nothing for us to conclude (ooh) Oh Patti don't look for certainty in your life I've gone where a lost cause can be found

Re: Lyrics that mean something to you I had the absolute joy of hearing this song performed live by Fyfe, his voice took my breath away and I had one of those moments where you get goose pimples and the hair on your neck stands on end. He stood on stage with just a keyboard and his voice and rendered Shepherds Bush Empire silent. YouTube - Blue Would Still Be Blue ( The Guillemots ) (play it loud )It's not raining cats, it's not raining dogs And pigs are not flying, or turning the cogs The sun has no hat on, whenever it shines And I've never seen a cat with nine lives I'm not in a film, I'm not in a play I saw no aliens today I just saw you, and thought of me And if I had you, all the stars wouldn't fall from the sky, and the moon wouldn't start to cry There'd be no earthquakes I'd still make mistakes If i had you Oh there'd still be day and night, and I'd still do wrong and right Ooh Blue would still be blue But things would be easier with you And this is no palace, the place that I live And I am no king, but I've got things to give And I waste so much time, thinking of time And I should be out there, claiming what's mine Any day I could die, just like I was born And this bit in the middle is what I'm here for And I just want to fill it all with joy And if I had you, all the stars wouldn't fall from the sky, and the moon wouldn't start to cry There'd be no earthquakes I'd still make mistakes If i had you Oh there'd still be night and day, and we'd all still have to pay Ooh Blue would still be blue But things would just be easier with you Last edited by Tansy; 4th July 2008 at 06:25 PM.

Re: Lyrics that mean something to you Don't know much about your life. Don't know much about your world, but Don't want to be alone tonight, On this planet they call earth. You don't know about my past, and I don't have a future figured out. And maybe this is going too fast. And maybe it's not meant to last, But what do you say to taking chances, What do you say to jumping off the edge? Never knowing if there's solid ground below Or hand to hold, or hell to pay, What do you say, What do you say? I just want to start again, And maybe you could show me how to try, And maybe you could take me in, Somewhere underneath your skin? What do you say to taking chances, What do you say to jumping off the edge? Never knowing if there's solid ground below Or hand to hold, or hell to pay, What do you say, What do you say? And I had my heart beaten down, But I always come back for more, yeah. There’s nothing like love to pull you up, When you’re laying down on the floor there. So talk to me, talk to me, Like lovers do. Yeah walk with me, walk with me, Like lovers do, Like lovers do. What do you say to taking chances, What do you say to jumping off the edge? Never knowing if there's solid ground below Or hand to hold, or hell to pay, What do you say, What do you say? Don’t know much about your life And I don’t know much about your world.

Re: Lyrics that mean something to you Bright Eyes by Art Garfunkel Is it a kind of a dream Floating out on the tide Following the river of death downstream Oh is it a dream There's a fog along the horizon A strange glow in the sky And nobody seems to know where it goes And what does it mean Ohoh is it a dream Bright eyes, burning like fire Bright eyes, how can you close and fail How can the light that burned so brightly Suddenly burn so pale Bright eyes Is it a kind of a shadow Reaching into the night Wandering over the hills unseen Or is it a dream There's a high wind in the trees A cold sound in the air And nobody ever knows when you go And where do you start Oh into the dark Bright eyes, burning like fire Bright eyes, how can you close and fail How can the light that burned so brightly Suddenly burn so pale Bright eyes Bright eyes, burning like fire Bright eyes, how can you close and fail How can the light that burned so brightly Suddenly burn so pale Bright eyes

Re: Lyrics that mean something to you Gladstone Pier - Redgum Peter was a sailor Swarthy lean and proud He could take a schooner through a big sea swell Aloof in the mainland crowd She loved his quiet laughter Like a boy he'd shrug and grin The beach stretched wide at Port McKay With dreams upon the wind He wore her name in a rose tattoo Long weekends of gins and lime She lived in Cairns made plans to move Checkout girl part-time And rumour said there's a boom ahead You can make your future here By the Gladstone pier A two roomed five row shelter Empty hopes, the damp, the flies Prices hyped, her face grew tight And conversation died And the foreman at the smelter said you're much too old Try the cane fields further north And the clerk at the market said we don't buy trouble There's a strike down at the port Then a six-day shift in a filthy pit The drag lines gouging coal The black dust gnaws at your lungs and pores The anger rots your soul And the queue round the block waits for you to drop Can you take it for another year By the Gladstone Pier Every Sunday he'd walk alone Casting pebbles at the passing waves Plunge in brine cleanse his pride A stronger man remains The growling shale and distant sails Ached within his bones And ships upon the tide Bound for ports unknown Soon he drank for comfort She grew bitter in the weeks between The nights of beer and hollow cheer And love became routine They fought, she left him crying Angry words in The Last Café In desperation on a lonely night She took the bus to Cairns next day Gladstone couples break that way Mutual blame and no regrets Boomtown blues just fade to grey And all that's left to debts: he cried "I've got to leave this dirty old town The rattle of broken men And break these chains and wash the pain And put to sea again Drained all my passion my anger and my fears And sank them in a flagon Under Gladstone pier" She saw him through the Greyhound window As the dawn glowed on the chrome Standing by the pier under sullen skies Sea winds calling home From surfers up to Townsville Past the high-rise colonies Fast food, cheap hotels Two more boom-town refugees

Re: Lyrics that mean something to you You could say I lost my faith in science and progress You could say I lost my belief in the holy church You could say I lost my sense of direction You could say all of this and worse but If I ever lose my faith in you There'd be nothing left for me to do Some would say I was a lost man in a lost world You could say I lost my faith in the people on TV You could say I'd lost my belief in our politicians They all seemed like game show hosts to me If I ever lose my faith in you There'd be nothing left for me to do I could be lost inside their lies without a trace But every time I close my eyes I see your face I never saw no miracle of science That didn't go from a blessing to a curse I never saw no military solution That didn't always end up as something worse but Let me say this first If I ever lose my faith in you There'd be nothing left for me to do

Re: Lyrics that mean something to you Agree with you on this one Karma Police by Radiohead is a great song with such deep lyrics showing that basically what goes around comes around. Apparently started by Thom Yorke on tour when another member of the band would do something bad he told them the Karma Police would get them.
