Re: Least Favorite Characters Yes, but that doesn't mean I sympathize with them. I understand their motivations: greed, petty vengeance, and spite. As for Stannis....I think he must be some sort of robot...a broken one. He has two emotions: anger and impatience. I think he is Dany's foil. He has sought out a great destiny, no matter what he says, if he didn't want it he wouldn't be in the North, now would he? Dany has not, her experiences have been forced on her. Granted, she didn't HAVE to start an army and conquer cities, but what else was she going to do? Learn to be a whore or a fishwife? dany is the real thing, Stannis is just a cheap-ass imitation pretending to royalty. This is all off the topic, so I'll get back on it. Stannis is far too concerned with HIS "rights" instead of the people he just thinks should follow him. He said he's given up pretensions to the throne to hold the Wall, but then why is he so presumptious about ordering about The Night's Watch? He's just an all-around unpleasant person. I can relate to all the other characters and put myself in their heads, but I just can not think like Stannis. Last edited by the smiling weirwood; 25th July 2006 at 01:27 AM..

Re: Least Favorite Characters Ya know...I personally enjoy Stannis...Im in the military and quite frankly early in the books he looked like a decent leader...but I think the Big Red M (Melisandre) is doing things with his head. The bit about the Onion Knight and "one good act does not wash away all the rest" was a typical military leaders action. I dont personally like him, but his descent into madness is subtle and interesting to me.... I dont dislike Cersei...her chapters are so interesting to read. She spins everything in her own head its enjoyable to notice all the things she misses. Shes evil and egocentric but sometimes those people make the most interesting people to talk to.

Re: Least Favorite Characters I'm just waiting for brittle Stannis to break. I mean, in order to be a good leader you have to accept that it's not all black and white. Stannis is the "my way or the highway" type of leader- how many of those are shown to last, in history? He lacks any method or manner of diplomacy. In the Seven Kingdoms, that will be the death of him. He needs to be able to work with many power-hungry men who have their own agendas, but he doesn't see the bigger picture, just the place he wants to be.
