Work that one out!

I just wanna see a Catelyn/Cersei slapdown!
Also, anyone know where the hell Brianne has gotten too? I reckon she might bump into the Hound, which could be interesting...?

Re: Least Favorite Characters

Ah I thought we had another Geordie member. I will have to hold off my invasion of North Yorkshire for another day. Two Geordies would have been ample.

Is Catelyn going to kill Cersei? What is Catelyn now? Does she represent anything of her former self?

To answer this question at the present time would mean we would have to look at Beric. Beric was brought back by Thoros as well and he seems to be his self. I believe Catelyn is not a zombie but what is in store for her in the future of the series I would not care to guess.

Re: Least Favorite Characters

I like to read almost all the chapters, but I find that I have to skip the Catelyn chapters when I re-read ASOIAF. She spends most of her time worrying and desparing and never really does anything.

LOL! I guess there's someone for everyone. I wouldn't want to be there for the bedding, though.

Imagine the arguments though?
"Where have you been?"
"What time do you call this?"
"Are you drunk!??"
"Eat Morningstar!"

I would have to say I don't like Petyr Baelish, he is very trecherous and I feel sorry for Sansa being with him. Gregor Clegane, Vargo Hoat and all their underlings are monsters and Tywin Lannister is an awful man. The Boltons are also horrible.

Re: Least Favorite Characters

Late posting but here goes...

Joffrey - what a spoiled git. Wanted to strangle the book on many occasions because of that jumped up little gobsh*te

Cersei - evil, vindictive, hateful, conceited, narcissistic, just plain grrrrrrrr

Vargo Hoat - not a lot to say, awful

The Mountain that Rides - as above

Raff the Sweetling - as above

Stannis - rigid, stupid, pig-headed, stubborn, full of himself

Melissandre - evil lady, bad advisor, makes me shiver

Catelyn / UnCat or Lady Stoneheart, both annoy the hell out of me

Littlefinger - slimy, thinks too much of himself, wants his way with Sansa

Roose Bolton - for all reasons already listed

Lord Frey and other freys - just heh, plain heh, nasty heh

Think that's it, probably some I've forgotten but hey ho, I'm sure someone else will list them for me.

xx

Agree 100% I really liked Catelyn before AFFC and now I hate her with a passion. I hope there is a reason for the new Catelyn and I hope that reason can redeem her somehow. I know for a fact no matter how low I was to sink my Mother would stand beside me and try to help me without question. Until AFFC this is how I saw Catelyn therefore GRRM has to have something in mind for the new Catelyn there is no other reason to foster such absolute hate in her as he did in AFFC, I really do believe that. He took any bad feelings the reader may have had for Catelyn in the previous books and enhanced upon each and every single one of them in what looked to be a vindictive attempt to trash her POV. There has to be a reason for that!

Only a mother can understand the love she feels towards her children and only a mother can understand the utter desperation she feels when she can't be there for all of her children all of the time. She wants to be there for them 100% of the time, make no mistake about that, but a mother is only human and not a god even though some children may see her as one. I think GRRM's POV that was Catelyn the mother was so honestly human and now .... well she didn't ever deserve that, unless he has something else in mind. My god! I was devastated completely there has to be a reason for the new Catelyn that brings peace to the readers mind, there has to be! God someone kill her and make it so she stays dead, PLEASE!

As for Ayra, she is one of my favorite POV's and those would include Tyrion, Dany, Samwell, Davos and Jon.

I would agree with your assessment of Beric "mostly" being like himself.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I got the distinct impression that it became harder and harder for Thoros to repeatedly resurrect Beric. I also thought Beric dropped a couple of comments that indicated he wasn't too happy about being brought to "life" repeatedly. As an extension of that "feeling" or ennui, he eventually kills himself in resurrecting Catelyn. In sum, I don't think Beric was a happy camper about being unBeric.

However, I got the distinct impression that Catelyn's experience is different from Beric's. Thoros (I believe) had said she was dead too long to be resurrected and counseled heavily against it. I assumed that was why unCat has a burr in her undergarments and such a nasty bedside manner (which we didn't see with Beric).

I wonder if unCat has any of Catelyn left in her or if something else is animating her body. Anyone?

It seems to me that Catelyn thinks that all of her children are dead. Losing 5 children would be enough to unhinge any mother.

Re: Least Favorite Characters

Hi all , this is my first post although I have been following these threads for a couple of weeks. I have very much enjoyed GRRM's books - I read Book one years ago and recently joined an online audio book club and have listened so far up to book 3. I am thoroughly hooked! and I didn't think it could get any worse until this forum, now I wake up in the middle of the night twisting and turning all those plots around in my head. Anyway, belatedly for this thread, my least favourite characters in order of vileness:

Lysa Aryn - Gods! what a ghastly, jealous, clinging, violent excuse for a woman! having her fly was soooo satisfying;

Joffrey - A twisted little arrogant upstart!

Robert Aryn - An 8 year old milksop with a doll for heavens' sake - let him fly I say!!

Tywyn Lannister - award for worst father, uncaring and hypocrytical character - sheesh! he was sleeping with Shay!

Those are the worst so far - more could be added after book 4

I am in total agreement with you on this. In some cases such as Cersei my mind is reeling to what in the lords name will she do next. Its thier actions and reactions that makes me go nutty and want to read more.
