There are 1000 better similar animes who wont ruin a great manga.

I agree that usually the manga version has the better story than the anime version. Fortunately, I read the DN manga first before watched the anime.

just want to add some less exciting opinion:
Samurai 7 has a lot of mecha in it, but it is not about the protagonist riding a mecha. Actually, there is no protagonist in this anime that riding/control a mecha.

Unfortunatly I don't know much beyond what I said about Gilgamesh - not something I have watched. It has a dark theme to it and some interesting artwork - beyond that all I know is that is a serious story driven anime

Ok after watching them...
Blood was interesting and I will look into the anime a bit later on
Cowboy Bebop was ...different and I will hold off opinion til I see more of it
Same goes for wolfs Rain which actually seem like the most exciting one and I look forward to continuing it.
