Basically, to get to the real root of it. I don't. I wander from one project to another like a drunkard, and rarely finish any of them.

Why do I do it? It's fun. I do what I want to.

Who needs willpower?

Re: An Author's Goals

I write because my imagination demands it.

Plus I write better than I paint, and I have to share this stuff in my head somehow.

It gets a bit full unless I download it regularly.

Re: An Author's Goals

I write for a bunch of reasons. For one, I really love doing it. It's the only thing I can see myself doing, realistically, that I would be happy doing.

Sometimes, I daydream of walking around town and having people come up and tell me how much they love my books. Or walking down to the local bookstore to do a signing.

A third reason I write is because I am horrible at everything else!

.. and lets not forget Cheap!.

Unlike other hobbies, writing requires very little, monetarily. A pen and notepad.
Plus it's completely mobile, and unobtrusive.

Perhaps this low risk convenience could explain why most success stories are from those with regular day jobs, who simply wrote in their spare time.
