What are the best dunking biscuits?

Thought it was time for a really serious thread.

As anyone who reads a lot will be aware there is nothing like sitting in a chair, book on lap with a nice mug of tea by your side, and if you are very lucky a biscuit or six to dunk in the beverage.

But just what is the best biscuit for dunking? Not necessarily the best in terms of holding itself together, but the one that was just the best?

There are plenty that spring to mind to start with, but first and foremost is McVitie's Lincoln (the one with the dots) although it has vanished from the shelves and I have to find something to replace it.

Weeeellllll I rekon Tim Tams, but you dont really dunk, you bite off one corner, then bite of the opposite corner, and use it like a straw, and suck coffee thu it, and then cram the whole thing in your mouth mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, think I'll go and buy some tim tams for brekky!!(I think its an aussie thing)

Curses, Ursa, I was just heading here to mention that.

Screw it: I recommend the Penguin Slam, it's not to be missed! (it's the UK version of Tim Tam Slam. Although I have done it with a Tim Tam before, too. My friend had some).

But I also like your common and garden variety of chocolate digestive. Melted chocolatey biscuity goodness.

Never understood the attraction. To me a dunked biscuit is like the ones you find lurking in the bottom of the barrel just as the one thing you fancy is a nice crisp biscuit. Then as you bite into it you realise you've just chewed into one the soggiest mustiest veovil infested sock smelling lumps of lard and that you are just about to start the foulest two minutes of foul gum cloying experience you've had for many a year.

I like a nice hard biscuit, that softens up when you dunk it, like an Anzac or a Scotch Finger. Chocolate biscuits melt and are messy, soft biscuits you have to judge well or they break up and fall in your hot drink, nothing worse......

They are pieces of penguin covered in chocolate...

Kidding. It's two pieces of chocolate biscuit, with chocolate cream sandwiched between them and covered with a layer of chocolate. So very chocolaty biscuits. And thus great for the Penguin Slam.

Oh, and they have somewhat lame jokes on the back of the wrappers. A delicious treat and a lame joke. What more could you need.

Hmmm, over here in the States we're a bit uncultured (Chorus: No Grim, really???) when it comes to biscuits. Some of us dunk doughnuts, while others do cookies, but tea time itself is a rare commodity here. We make a big deal, though, out of dunking oreo cookies for some reason.....
