This was in the first Tyrion chapter of AGOT. I think this was where Sandor was introduced.

| Re: Who said that? I dont actually like this quote. I dont know why Sandor showed some humour and why he was so eager to please Jof. The Hound shows little interest in anybody else (except Sansa) and doesnt show ANY humour with Arya. |

He then spends the restg of the books hobbling around on very gimpy legs. I thin k that jump was how GRRM might have first envisioned Tyrion, but the character quickly evolved into the half-crippled dwarf we know today. Sandor's quote to me wasn't as much humor as it was ongoing mockery and cruelty, something The Hound was very good at from day 1. It was noted in that passage that Sandor forced Tyrion to play that little game every chance he got. As for Davos, I don't remember how Roy played Davos when he first read him. I do remember a few characters changing over time as he developed his reading of them. Is that what you mean? In reading Davos in the prologuejust now I didn't get any "jolly" sense of him. His portrayal of Hodor was completely consistent though

I'll chalk that one up to my earlier thread about the difference between "audio and the actual book". Last edited by xLORDSNOWx; 10th April 2010 at 05:48 PM. Reason: grammar

| Re: Who said that? I'd be tempted to guess Yoren or Jon Snow but I do believe it's Tyrion Lannister. I think the original quote comes from Tywin but in the books Tyrion thinks about his fathers words so I guess his is the name I'm guessing. So Tyrion! |

I would call Tywin the best known strategist in the Westeros we know. Little Finger would obviously get the award for best unknown strategist in Westeros. If no one objects, I would say you're up.
