Re: Who said that?

Syrio is correct. Syrio is not Jaqen; they are separate people. Jaqen is alive; Syrio is dead.

I'll take the bait, since this is a pet theory of mine. I think there's at least some evidence to suggest that Syrio and Jaqan are one and the same, although it's certainly not even close to being a really solid idea. IMO there is no evidence to suggest that Syrio is dead, other than someone who calls themself Ser Meryn Trant is still alive and kicking.

Re: Who said that?

I read somewhere that GRRM is constantly asked "Is Syrio alive?" and "Are Syrio and Jaqen the same person?" To which he replies something to the effect of "A guy with a stick refuses to run away from a Kingsguard in full plate armor with a longsword and later that Kingsguard is seen walking and talking... draw the obvious conclusion."

I cannot cite this. I cannot back this up. But I'm positive I read it somewhere... Doh!

Found just now on Westeros.org

Quote:
In 2005, GRRM pointed out that Syrio seems to have been left in a hopeless situation when he was last seen, and suggested readers should "draw your own conclusions" based on this (SSM), which seems to imply that Syrio Forel was in fact killed. More recent reports (but, it should be said, unconfirmed) indicate GRRM does not understand why he gets asked the question repeatedly, pointing out that Syrio is not immortal; if accurate, this seems to more heavily imply that Syrio Forel is dead.

I'm starting to feel like the Game Nazi, which is only slightly better than the Soup Nazi

Southron Sowrd, it's your turn to put up a quote.

Re: Who said that?

Well, blast. I'm almost certain the speaker is pretending that they can't see Tyrion due to his height, but I can't for the life of me think who the person is or to whom they are speaking. I guess I'll go with Oberyn.

Re: Who said that?

Well, it's all in good fun. I don't mind helping someone else to the answer.

Also, who is the Hound speaking to? There is someone else there, isn't there?
