| Re: Shout your happy news to the world!!! Thanks everyone, and I hope everything goes well for you Perp. After a few days, here's the most useful advice I can think of. Get scratch mitts on him/her and tie them on with cable tidies or something, because it's quite amazing how quickly the little bu... Darling can get out of them. Interference, my current policy on advisors is to eject them through the nearest airlock as they shall doubtless try to usurp your empire at some point. Do you still want the job? |

| bringer of cake | Re: Shout your happy news to the world!!! Am looking forward to tomorrow. Hubby has taken the day off, and son has an 'inset' day at school, so we're taking the kids up to London in the hopes of finally seeing the Dinosaur exhibition at the Natural History Museum, and then showing them the delights of the Science Museum - I well remember the excitement of racing my brother to be the first to press the button at any given display - far out-weighed anything that I might have actually learnt! Here's hoping the weather holds out! (am also slightly amused that we've had rain every day since they issued the drought-order/hosepipe ban, but sad that it's still no where near what we actually need to keep the countryside going) |

| bringer of cake | Re: Shout your happy news to the world!!! We survived! And had a great day too. Sam was delighted with the T-Rex at the dinosaur exhibition, his sister a little less so. I was less inspired by the example from their current paid for exhibition, 'Animals Inside Out' - a 'plastinated' camel that had been 'displayed' in the Central Hall - to give you an idea (from the website): ![]() From the neck up, it's been sliced through into 3 'slivers' to show the brains, tongue, teeth etc. When I realised that the teeth were real, and that this wasn't just a very good model, I actually felt a bit sick. However, very interesting I suppose if you're into that kind of thing. After lunch, we popped up to the Science Museum, and were extremely lucky. As we entered, a chap came up to us and asked if we were a family of 4 - 'We are' I replied and was given a print out of his email which entitled us to certain paid-for exhibitions. They'd run out of time as one of his children had to go to hospital, and didn't want the ticket to go to waste, so passed it on to us! Lovely chap. With it, we got to go on the Red Arrows 3D flight. It was FAB! We sat on special seats, with 3D specs on, in front of a huge screen. The seats moved as we essentially took flight with the Squadron Leader, and saw everything in large 3D - with the other plans apparently only 6 feet above us. Sam loved it - he commented on how it felt like he was driving the plane. It really gave me a feel of just how good those guys have to be when they really are so very close to each other. There is a little clip of the film here, if you're interested: http://www.sciencemuseum.org.uk/visi...ed_arrows.aspx On the whole, it's been a fab, but tiring day. Kids were asleep within seconds this evening, and I don't reckon I have long left to be awake today either. |
