Re: Shout your happy news to the world!!!

You don't cough into a twelve-year old single malt; it would be a sacrilege.

Worst case, you don't light the cigar, just roll it between the fingers of your non-glass hand, and inhale alternately it and the alcohol vapours.

Just got the most brilliant early birthday present from my hubby - a drawing tablet - Bamboo Pen & Touch! What a total transformation after getting wrist-ache for hours using a mouse. It's amazing!

So agree. I've been using a Wacom Intuos A4 tablet instead of a mouse for about five years (started after getting RSI or something like), and I would never go back. It's so much faster; you can zip anywhere on screen in an instant, and I never get that cramped feeling in my hand and wrist any more. Shame I don't actually draw with it much.

Re: Shout your happy news to the world!!!

The Bamboo Pen and Touch is also made by Wacom. I started using it yesterday morning and you couldn't drag me off my chair for the rest of the day. I'm using it in conjunction with GIMP to sketch and paint. (Artwork to accentuate passages from my book on my Blog). A total transformation after a mouse. It's just like working with a sketch-pad and pencil. Hubby's not too happy - cooking has gone right out the window since I unpacked the new toy!

I'm not surprised given that the kitchen bin was thought to be insufficient for containing the cooked food.

I second that

Since Christmas my pressies have been whisky oriented, I've got Jim Murray's whiskybible, a modest arrangement of whisk(e)y's including a bottle of famous grouse, a bottle of William Lawsons 12 year, a bottle of Ben Bracken (A "lost" Speyside Single, available in discountstores around the christmasdays, it's a real bargain for a 12 year whisky) and a bottle of Glenfiddich (12y). Next week I'm going to a whiskytasting. It's about time a young lad like me gets to know his malts

Any comments?

You might like to drop in on this thread Cornelius; Whisky - In Search of the Perfect Dram.

After a bit of discussion of the book up front it meanders off into an enjoyable general Whisky discussion (incidentally the Whiskey spelling is only for the Irish stuff. Sniff, sniff

He made the soup for lunch today! That's a first. I almost felt guilty.

Re: Shout your happy news to the world!!!

Had a meeting with a member of the department this afternoon about going into postgraduate research.

He was very enthusiastic about my idea and will be happy to supervise should I get an offer.
