| Re: Shout your happy news to the world!!! I just received in today's post a critique of my book from my old secondary school English teacher. Considering I always scored poorly in English homework, it means a lot to me. Take that, class swot! I finally scored top marks! *does the shuffle* EDITED TO ADD: It's been 15 years since I left school, just in case anyone was thinking I was a strange teenager lurking on here. |

| Re: Shout your happy news to the world!!! YAY! A few years ago we had a masive house flood which turned all my college certificates to mush, they were kept in the bottom draw of a fileing cabenit. Since then i have had no proof of my qualifications. And at £300 to replace the certificates i've just lived with it. Today (good old) mum was clearing out her old paperwork from when she worked on the council, she found a brown envelop with my name on the front. I looked inside and ... YEAH! It was the confermation of results letters, ok they're not certificates, but at least its proof, with referance numbers for each qualification.... Awesome. 1 Distinction 5 credits 9 passes (where only a pass was possibal) 5 passes (standard) ![]() ![]() ![]() Really happy. |

| Re: Shout your happy news to the world!!! Great news, sloweye! That's why I don't keep important documents in the bottom drawer of the filing cabinet in the dining room. Actually, all our personal stuff is now upstairs, so unless there's a fire, they should be pretty safe! |

| bringer of cake | Re: Shout your happy news to the world!!! I’m lucky and privileged enough to live near some absolutely wonderful people! I’m currently without my husband – he’s in Scotland on a stag do – so the last few days have been slightly tougher than normal anyway, Yesterday, in half an hour, an inch of snow fell – and that little inch has caused so many problems. It wasn’t predicted, it happened during the afternoon, no roads had been gritted, and accidents happened everywhere. If it hadn’t been for my neighbour in her 4x4, I wouldn’t have been able to get my kids home without a hugely great deal of stress and exertion (I couldn’t drive and it’s a 2 mile walk to my daughters nursery). I did a deal with our other neighbours, and provided food for the kids (pasta & meatballs) and they fed me with a delicious Chilli. They also took me in tonight, and fed me and the kids, and made sure that I didn’t feel alone. I just feel so lucky to have such wonderful neighbours who I know I can count on in any weather. They are there for me. Slightly marred by the fact that eldest child, despite doses of calpol and nurofen, is running a high temperature and seems to be very under the weather. I’m effectively a single parent with no way of getting to any care – and I have to admit, I’m slightly concerned. Sam has deteriorated quite quickly, and it’s a bit scary. But, tonight, I’m determined to be positive. He will be fine, life is good and I’m very grateful. Edit - am trying my damson brandy for the first time tonight - and it is simply delicious! Life is very good! Last edited by StormFeather; 18th December 2010 at 10:43 PM. |

| bringer of cake | Re: Shout your happy news to the world!!! Am about to leave for a long weekend away, with the girls, for a friends 40th birthday. (but have just realised that I have completely forgotten about card or present - jeesh I'm crap sometimes) However, the weekend is without hubby, kids or computer, and we have a 3 hour pamper session booked at a spa for tomorrow night. I'm ridiculously happy as I haven't done anything like this for years - possibly longer. In fact, I can't remember doing anything similar .It'll be the first time since my eldest was born (over 5 years ago) that my hubby has looked after the kids for more than one night. That should be interesting! Anyway - won't be on here for days, but will be taking notebooks and camera and seeing if inspiration might strike! Hurrah ![]() ![]() |
