Claus was playing absent mindedly with the controls of the LHC.

Gordon shuddered; it had all been a dream; it had to have been a dream. But there, in front of his half-open eyes, were those shiny shoes skittering across the Cabinet table; and there was that awful parody of the Four Tops's biggest hit, with Lord Peter singing at the top of his voice, "I'll be Blair!"

I don't think I've ever felt so demoralisied and washed-up in all the thousands of years I've been alive. And that was all just today.

I think I hate Mondays.

The sun shone through the clouds, and the rain finally stopped. I took it as a sign.

And finally - at last - the thought of her didn't make me cringe.

In spite of everything, I still look back on it all and laugh.

I know she's always right about everything, I mean she never stops telling me how right she always is, but this time -- this time ... she was absolutely right.

He took a long drink of his beer, reminiscing. Though he never truly experienced the events of the past three months, he was glad it happened.

As they steamed away from the harbor, he looked back at the churchyard where they had left her.

He hoped she had finally found what she sought for so long.

My mother always told me to bring a spare pair of underwear with me. Why didnt I listen to her?

He climbed into the bed he knew he could never sleep in, his arms around the girl he knew he could never love, and laid back, his memories of what happened flooding his mind and his eyes.

As he closed the book a weight lifted off of his shoulders. It wasn't his world to save but for a few hours it sure felt like it was. He had lived and died with the characters and had fallen in love with a world that was not that different from his own. Now it flowed off of him much like water does after a shower. Soon he would be clean and dry from the pages of words that had drowned him for a short time but would never be forgotten. Until the next world was unlocked with the opening of another.
