And strange - after getting laughed (come on they must have!) out of court for this why did he go and insist that he was not drunk at the time of the phone call? Could have got him off the community service and into a nice calm cushy rehab centre

I was rather taken with the charge of: "using a phone for a fictitious purpose", which sounds as if he was only pretending to make a call rather than what he was actually being accused of doing, namely making a false allegation using a phone.
