| Not sci-fi but I hope someone can help I know this is a sci-fi/fantasy site but I hope its ok to ask for some help with a different book as I do not know where else to ask. I vaguely remember a series of books which involved a boy who owned a White Cockatoo. He and other children of a similar age have Famous Five-style adventures. My Mum thought one of the characters names might be 'Jack'. I also have the feeling that it was produced as a programme for British T.V. most likely on the BBC prior to 2001. I hope someone can help, thanks in advance. |

| Re: Not sci-fi but I hope someone can help Hmm... I seem to remember there was a cockatoo in E.E Nesbit's The Phoenix and the Carpet (a sequel to Five Children and It) but I don't think it was white (orange?). Sorry, almost certainly not the one, but it's the only thing that sprang to mind. |

It's Enid Blyton - the 'Adventure' series: "The Adventure Series features Jack, Philip, Dinah, and Lucy-Ann, a group of children who, together with their pet Kiki the parrot, get snarled up in the most amazing adventures you can imagine." (from EnidBlyton.net) Link: - The Adventure Series with Jack, Philip, Dinah, Lucy-Ann, and Kiki the parrot Oh, and at least one of them, 'The Mountain of Adventure', was SF of a sort. As I recall, it involved a reclusive, possibly mad, scientist and an anti-gravity device he had invented. | |
