Which book is it, pertaining to city-long brain matter computer

You have to help me out. I can't sleep until I figure which book this is.

The only thing I know is:

It first popped up in a PC Case Modding contest URL I visited. The guy who did the case mod was inspired by a character in a novel that was essentially a computer made up of brain matter (grey or white, can't remember). This computer was a long as a city (or something of that magnitude). Does this turn on any light bulbs? I need to read this book. The computer's name is a character.

It's just a brain matter computer (don't know who wrote it, gibson? etc.)

But it's very large and I don't the plot behind this novel. The computer's name might have begun with an "S", maybe? Don't limit your search to just "S" names.

Please, someone figure this out. I can't even find that case modding website anymore, or I'm not searching properly.
