Re: Just Finished Tigana by Guy Gavriel Kay

Sounds like I'm going to have to pick up these titles.

Re: Just Finished Tigana by Guy Gavriel Kay

I am currently reading this book, and I'm about halfway through. So far its pretty good, but at this point I think I enjoyed The Last Light of the Sun better. Unfortunately, I haven't had much time over the past couple months to read, so I only get to read a bit at a time, but I do still have half the book to go! Perhaps the best parts are yet to come...

Have to admit that I've never read Kay before but I've just placed Tigana on my wishlist.

I just bought Tigana last weekend. It's been on my list for a long time. It's good to know people think highly of it. Not sure when I'll start it though, got allot of books on my shelf to get through.

Tigana is a classic and I've got most of Kay's work. Certainly a significant contributor to SFF.

AMEN TO THAT! His writing is really beautiful and elegant, though, given his incredible quality, I hated Ysabel. I hope his next offering, which should be available soon, returns him to form. Anyone who likes fantasy should try Kay. Also, he has eschewed any kind of big epic series since his debut in the Fionavar Tapestry.

I remember Fionavar with postive feelings. Read it it the '80s and for the time it was quite original in its feel. If I reread it now I proably wouldn't rate it as highly because I've read so much more and wider afield than just SFF these days.

Never bothered picking up Ysabel but do have Light of the Last Sun and I understand it's quite good.

Re: Just Finished Tigana by Guy Gavriel Kay

My ever increasing too read pile still has Ysabel on it, and no matter what I read it does not seem to be getting any closer. I seem to be in no rush to read it, but then I did not really enjoy The Last Light of The Sun as much as I did his other works...

Re: Just Finished Tigana by Guy Gavriel Kay

I quite enjoyed The Last Light of the Sun. The only books of his I have read are Last Light and Tigana so far, but I will most likely read more someday.

Personally, I enjoyed Last Light more than Tigana (though I know I'm in the minority on that). For whatever reason Tigana just didn't hook me right in.
