| Re: If there was a movie? I think Sandra Bullock could make a good Taiba. It would definitely be interesting to see Bob Hoskins as Beldin, too. I'd always thought that Danny DeVito would be good in that role, but with Bob Hoskins too it'd be a close run thing. ![]() |

That's weird. I always thought of him as Torak. o_0 ...Maybe his portrayal of Febre in "The Musketeer" had that kind of an influence on me... --------------------------------------------------------------- I figure Eric Bana or Christian Bale would make a decent Zakath. Image of Bana Image of Bale --------------------------------------------------------------- By the way, if there was a movie of Elenium and Tamuli, Clive Owen is a perfect Sparhawk. ^_^;; Pic and Another ---------------------------------------------------------------

| Re: If there was a movie? Yeah, I guess Danny De Vito could be a good Beldin- but Bob Hoskins has been in a few films where he's quite scary for a small 'un, so that's why I thought of him..hmm. There are too many characters, and the more I try to imagine people in parts, I realise it would be imposible to make! Anyone suggested a series instead? Sunday tea time is in need of a good show. ![]() |

| Re: If there was a movie? A series probably isn't a bad idea for something like the Belgariad/Malloreon. ![]() I hadn't realized it, but there are loads of characters, aren't there? I forgot all about the Alorn kings and queens, too, as well as the non-Alorn rulers. Finding a Rhodar would be tough, not to mention an Anheg, Cho-Hag et al. |

| Re: If there was a movie? I was awake with the baby all last night *literally* and I came to the conclusion - at around 4a.m - that the only way to do this true justice would be a cartoon or CG film. That way, there'd be less baggage with the faces attached to the actors, and a LOT more scope. The reason this came about was, well, long winded... Thinking about final fantasy x, as my hubby was playing it before bed, led to thinking about the AWFUL film, and how I'd fix it, led to thinking about how I spent two-thirds of the film trying to identify some really well-known actor's voices, but it didn't matter that the faces didn't fit, coz the voices worked fantastically, f'rinstance Steve Buscemi. And it wouldn't matter about using unknowns, either. Then I had 'a revelation' a la Mr Smith in The Matrix. Use CG/animation instead of live action! Would also be cheaper, because the amount of locations needed would make LOTR look like a picnic! And then age/race/height lalalala wouldn't matter. All of which goes to prove that sleep deprivation is dangerous! I must apologise for the rambly-ness of this post, so SORRY! Once I have gathered my brain into a better semblance of order, I'll post my ideas for voice actors. Last edited by HappyHippo; 29th March 2007 at 09:46 PM. Reason: typos and derangedness |

| Re: If there was a movie? Ooh, I like the idea of a CGI film! That would definitely sort out a few problems! ![]() Just have to get the character designs right, and as you say, a good cast of voice actors, and voila! |

| Re: If there was a movie? Lol, very true. I think HH meant in the graphic style of the Final Fantasy - Spirits within movie, ie very realistic. If they can get close to those kind of graphics in computer games these days, then a movie shouldn't be too difficult. ![]() |

| Re: If there was a movie? but cg animation can be even more expensive that regular blockbusters... remember, most animations, cg and regular, don't ever bank as much at the box office as they cost to produce... most make money through merchandising - and how cheesy would that make the Belgariad - little happy meal toys of out favourite characters... not to mention endless action figures. To be honest, the locations that are needed for this sort of a film wouldn't be all that hard to find... i envision alot being filmed in eastern europe, and parts in a more arid country. Castles, etc aren't particularly hard to find, or to redecorate... |

![]() You raise a good point, though. Whilst I like the idea of a CGI movie, I can see the drawbacks. Still, the thought of Belgariad action figures... ![]()
