Re: If there was a movie?

Huh? LOTR was only 3 books, that's why there are only 3 movies... or are you talking about something else? I am so confused...

I believe LOTR was originally released in six parts or books. They were later compiled (like many things in those days) into the three books we have today.

Re: If there was a movie?

If only sean connery's voice was more American accented, I'd say him as Belgarath.

While these are all good suggestion has anyone given a thought to these:

David Carradine (Kill Bill vol 2) as Belgarath
The Rock (The Scorpion King)as Hettar
Armin Shimmerman (Quark) as Silk
Salma Hayek (Desporado) as Taiba

No, the Professor had intended it to be that way, with the Appendices as an added volume, but they were instead originally published by Allen & Unwin in the form we have today: three volumes, two books each, the third with appendices. There is, however, an edition that was done a few years ago that split it into the seven volumes; I've only seen it a handful of times, though.

Re: If there was a movie?

Ok, I just read all four pages of the post in rapid prossession by spead reading so forgive for not using the name of each person who first cam up with certain ideas. Please take pity on the new comer.

I agree that Garion and Ce'Nedra as children should probably be unknowns however I love the idea of Heath Ledger as the older Garion.

David Spade for Silk is a no brainer for me.

Love The Rock as Hettar and Robbie Coltraine or John Goodman as Barak.

Errand will again be hard to cast.

I like Micheal Gambion for Belgarath because he is too gruff in Harry Potter but would at just the right level for Belgarath.

I don;t know what I think about the Polgara ideas, they hjust seem wrong to me for some reason but can think of who would work.

All I could think of at the moment but if I come up with more I'll be back

Re: If there was a movie?

I really hope that there won't be a movie. I still can't forget that total failure of Earthsea (now, this is my opinion, don't get angry). I think that that every movie somehow distorts the plot of a book.
Anyway, I agree that Alan Rickman is able to make it a great Torak
John Goodman will look better as Rodar, don't you think?
The Rock as Hettar - don't make me laugh, please...
They should put Ian McDiarmid somewhere as a bad guy, don't you think? Oh, and Cristopher Lee, of course.

Re: If there was a movie?

Me and my husband had put Alan Rickman playing Zeder.....don't forget Torak was too Handsome

Don't laugh but we thought Billy Connally would make a good Belgareth because he is after all a rogue

Johnny Depp as silk....good

Ian Mckellern and Christopher Lee would be Aldur & Ul

We're still out on who would play Polgara.....she has to look 25yrs but be very wise

Re: If there was a movie?

I think making the Belgariad into movies would stupid

Unless

The Director was as serious as Peter Jackson was about making the LOTRs trilogy and was able to actors (high name and no name actors) that are both suited to the role and serious about portraying the characters right.

I see a lot people sugesting actors like Tom Cruise, and Mel Gibson and all I can say is thank god you wouldn't be the ones casting the movie.

Re: If there was a movie?

I've always pictured Durnik being someone like Al Borlyn (don't recall the name of the actor) from Home Improvement.
