| Re: If there was a movie? Polgara - Catherine Zeta Jones - She has that classic, timeless, elegance that i always assumed Pol had. Silk - My all time favourite character.. I was 13 when i first read the series and he stood out to me. I think Johnny Depp would be perfect - he has shown himself to have a lot of range as an actor. Durnik - Daniel Craig - he fits the age and physical characteristics without being too pretty I think Belgarion (apart from when he was a young farm boy) would have suited Heath Ledger to a T Barak - Steve Austin Zakath - Alan Rickman Lledorin - Owen Wilson.. seems to have that gorgeous, noble, stupidity down pat Salmissra - Liv Tyler. I know people here dont rate her acting ability, but i think she would be perfect for the self centered, personality-less queen of Nyissa Porenn - Charlize Theron .. i know she's a bit tall for the part, but i think she has the looks for it. The other candidate is of course me :-) I've had a crush on Silk for as long as i can remember Hettar - that guy from "The Mummy" the bad one... |

| Re: If there was a movie? I'm probably not going to endear myself to this group here, but I have to say that Megan Fox would do justice to Polgara...lookswise. Personality- and acting-wise, no way in heck. What a terrible shame. But in Polly's words, I won't lose sleep over it. I absolutely concur about Silk - Johnny Depp would make a really hot and eccentric Silk. Actually, wouldn't Alan Rickman make an awesome Belgarath? |

| Re: If there was a movie? I always pictured Sean Connery about 15 years ago as Belgarath... He has to be gorgeous... He makes the ladies blush when he jumps into the lake in the Mallorean... All I know is Bill Bailey needs to be someone, somewhere and I'd rather English actors than American ones for the most part. If you want gorgeous and Polgaraish then look no further than our own Aussie model Megan Gale... She craps all over the other Megan. Polgara is a natural beauty, not a plastic/silicone one! |

). I've seen movies with Megan Gale, she cannot act. She could never be trusted with a role like Polgara. theres no majesty about MG, she has just class to carry off modelling shoots and catwalk (which really only requires an ability to stand gracefully, or walk like with a prance similar to a thoroughbred race horse). While she is stunning, she could never be a convincing Polgara. When i first read Pawn of Prophecy, OH so many years ago now, i also pictured Sean Connery as Belgarath. The best part about SC as Mister Wolf is that in the early books, Garion is a passenger on the Belgarath and Polgara express, one with clever commentary from our favourite Drasnian. So it wouldn't matter if Sean Connery and Catherine Zeta-Jones (being my personal favourite choice for the role of Polgara) outshone the unknown pretty-boy playing Garion. (they also look great in movies together (Entrapment wasn't a great movie, but they were pretty damn good in it)).

| Re: If there was a movie? When i first thought of this years ago I immediately thought of Donald Sutherland for Belgarath and Keifer Sutherland for Garion. Donald Sutherland is such a fantastic actor and Keifer isn't so bad. I had another thought recently, perhaps Nicholas Cage for Belgarath. It seems that Angelina Jolie is a popular choice for Polgara and I think I agree. She was quite good in Alexander. There is only one man for Silk and that has to be Johnny Depp Edward Furlong is a definite for Garion, and maybe one from left field is Edward Norton for Hettar. How about Vinny Jones as Silk's erstwhile business partner Yarblek?? Wayne Rooney for Beldin, someone else will have to perform all the line though, don't think a scouse desciple would catch on!!! I will post more later. |

Some excellent choices there. But poor Beldin. He's surely not that ugly...

I have to totally pan Nicholas Cage. The man can't act, and is the same in every movie. Ed Norton could also pull off Silk, though Depp would be great. Edward Norton is one of the best actors in the business these days. Bob Hoskins for Beldin. He'd be brilliant. For Belgarath, Sean Connery would be a good choice. Wise, yet roguish. Sean Bean can't be Barak, although he'd be a decent choice, because Barak doesn't die. I think Sean Bean has it in his contract for every film or series that his character must die, except Sharpe.

| Re: If there was a movie? Came up with a new actor for Silk. ![]() Matthew Porretta, the guy who played Will Scarlett O'Hara in "Robin Hood: Men in Tights". You gotta say he looks the part... not to mention in the movie he fought with daggers (both for hand-to-hand combat and throwing). XD http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p_tqLVNcIS8 See this for reference (the big guy could be Barak? XD). |

| Re: If there was a movie? Hello all! I was searching casting for the Belgariad and this forum came up. I enjoyed reading a lot of the suggestions and joined to add my two bits for two roles. For Polgara my initial thought was Jacklyn Smith, but my age betrayed me. I changed that to Monica Bellucci, who I think carries that timeless quality. Catherine Zeta-Jones gets no argument from me, but I agree about beating Megan Fox supporters with a frozen cod. I don't like Angelina Jolie either. Belgarath is difficult but I was wondering, how do you guys feel about Malcolm McDowell? |

Why are people tossing in Sorcerer's apprentice actors for these wish parts? Cage, now Bellucci. I honestly don't recall Jacklyn Smith having any roles where she showed regal bearing. I'd think Layla might be a bit closer to her personality. though no I've never really seen her play "giddy" she's just not pixie enough to get away with being Porenn, which ANY of the charlie's original angels could have voiced. I'm still more in mind of Madeline Stowe to play Polgara. Voice, bearing, attitude all shown in "Last of the Mohicans" Not dating myself as bad as the republican, but still.
