Re: If there was a movie?

i actually quite like idea of Liam Neeson as Belgarath. He's craggy looking, tall and with a close crop beard and white hair he should be able to pull of that old but youthful look. plus he's fit, and i'm pretty sure in the mallorean belgarath was supposed to be ripped.

Jake Gyllenhaal would make a pretty cool Silk i think...

Jamie Bell would make a great Garion. He's kinda got that farm boy look to him

Anne Hathaway is good for Pol, although the whole princess thing is too deeply ingrained into the world's brain for her to project 'regal'...that didn't sound as contradicting in my head

Re: If there was a movie?

how about Jodi lynn o'keefe for polgara. I always imagine her as Polgara when I watch prison break, especially in one episode when she had a blue shirt on

Re: If there was a movie?

Having looked up who she is (I haven't seen any of Prison Break), I think she looks the part. I'll have to watch it one of these days.

That said, and I'm a bit late, but welcome to the Chronicles, wandera!

Re: If there was a movie?

īGod I wish there'll be a movie

My favourite character's Silk and I'd always pictured him as handsome, but I've recently seen lot's of suggestions of Rowan Atkinson playing him... ugh.... Thought about Jamie Bell as him myself, but I'm not sure if he's old enough.

Anyway, read somewhere about Hayden Panettiere playing Velvet, and that just struck me as perfect. She can totally pull off being all sweet and innocent and then... BAM! snake in the face!

Not sure if she's got the dimples, but I'm sure makeup can fix that.

Re: If there was a movie?

You have to have Bill Bailey as Beldin! He is part troll you know! lol

I think Megan Gale (Aussie model who apparently is going to be playing wonder woman) would be an excellent Polgara. (You'll have to google coz I can't find any links that work).
I definitely agree a younger Angelica Houston would be perfect!

Gotta have Angelina as Salmissra, as someone said she comes across as fairly ho-ey in her movies, so spot on for Salmissra.

We need an unknown as Belgarath and for pete's sake they better not go the Gandalf image for him - Sean Connery about 10 years ago would have been perfect. I always pictured Belgarath as being a sexy old fella. Actually just having an extra think - a known actor who may do it justice would be Ben Kingsley.

Garion should also be an unknown actor.

I don't know how I'd feel about a movie - I like my imagination better

Re: If there was a movie?

Okay, here are my stabs at it.

Silk could be played by:
DJ Qualls for looks
Tim Roth more for character than for looks
Ed Norton for looks and acting

Polgara:
It's real hard for me to lay off of Liv Tyler for this after her role in LOTR otherwise an ALICE In Wonderland Anne Hathaway would be nice.

Bryce Dallas Howard could play a number of the female rolls as much as she has changed her hair for various rolls. She would also be a good beldaran.

I think Dakota Fanning might actually make a good Ce'Nedra. Just my opinion though.

Karl Urban might make a good Belzedar.

Belgarath though is tougher. Who do you see playing that? Liam Neeson fits the bill but makes a better Aldur.

The Rock might make an intersting Taur Urgas?

In the end though it would probably be best to get a few names to go with a bunch of no names. That way the no names work their butts off to make a name for themselves.

As long as we stay away from Channing Tatum for Garion, I'm good.

I'll take a stab at this- off of the top of my head:
Polgara: CZJ
Belgarath:
Relg: Mandy Patinkin or Tony Shaloub
Adult Ce'Nedra: Mila Kunis
Adult Garion:Chris Helmsworth
Mandorallen- Alexander Skaarsgard
Silk- Mark Hammill
Lelldorin- Ashton Kutcher
Rhodar: James Earl Jones
Adara: Anne Hathaway
Durnik: Daniel Craig
Taiba: Sofia Vergara
'Zakath: Alan Rickman
Salmissra: Angelina Jolie

to quote Mike Chang on Glee "for Christmas, I'd like Channing Tatum to stop being in stuff"

Only going to touch a couple of actors you've listed - i've gone on about the others before
Liam Neeson - if you think Qui Gon Jin, sure he's Aldur-ish. If you think of ANY of his MULTITUDE of other FAR BETTER characters, he's a perfect Belgarath - tho he might be just a LITTLE bit too violent... so perhaps as King Anheg.

Dakota Fanning - as much as until recently i've detested the little brat - the movies Push, and i'll admit New Moon and Eclipse, she's changed my mind. She could play a great Ce'Nedra. It DOES mean that the boy who plays Garion will have to be at least 3 years older than her at the time, so their visible ages match up well.

Anne Hathaway is a good option for Polgara. NEVER EVER Liv Tyler - she CANNOT act... its all whispers and pouty lips. We need a imperial fiery-ness just barely contained by a sense of unbreakable propriety, overlaid with four millennia of unrelenting grief. Liv Tyler could NEVER nail the subtle nuance of a Polgara character, let alone Polgara herself.

and lastly.

Bryce Dallas Howard is the DEVIL. She ONLY gets cast in roles when she replaces a FAR better actress, and then only because of who her father is. TERRIBLE actress (and i use the term loosely).

oh and no no no to Ed Norton. He's an epic level douche. Who refuses to be in a movie like the Avengers because your asking price won't be met - yet other actors with FAR bigger fan-bases and box-office pulls (RD Jr for instance) are taking slight pay cuts?

Re: If there was a movie?

Don't knock Liv too bad. There ARE roles she would be good for. I think the role I cast her as is perfect.

That said, here's the majority of my list. I've included some alternates, because we all know we can't always get our first choice.

Belgarath - Sean Connery, Liam Neeson

Polgara - Kate Beckinsale, Megan Fox, Lucy Lawless

Garion - Zachary Gordon

Ce'Nedra - Bella Thorne, Chloe Grace Moretz

Errand - Some Unknown Kid
(Let's face it, in the first series, he didn't exactly have a lot of lines)

Silk - Dennis Leary, Johnny Depp, Hank Azaria

Barak - Tyler Mane, Sean Bean

Hettar - Stephen Moyer, Jason Statham, Mark Dacascos

Lelldorin - Orlando Bloom
(pretty, blonde, dumb-lookinig)

Mandorallen - Aaron Eckhart, Matthew McConaughey
(BIG, pretty, blonde, dumb-lookinig)

Durnik - Sam Neill, Alan Tudyk (Wash on Firefly, OK looking, but ... plain)

Salmissra - Morena Baccarin (Inara, Firefly), Aishwarya Rai
(I think Salmissra should look exotic)

Porenn - Kristin Chenoweth
(She stands 4'11' - Porenn is TINY!)

Rhodar - Robbie Coltrane, John Goodman

Sadi - Ben Kingsley

Beldin - Arnold Vosloo, Andy Serkis,
Hugh Laurie (I think of Beldin every time I listen to House)

Vella - Angelina Jolie (Vella is all about sexy attitude, and Angelina's got it.)

Anheg - Brian Blessed, John Rhys-Davies

Brand - Bruce Campbell

Velvet - AnnaSophia Robb

Taiba - Kim Kardashian (Lush sexuality, with little detectable personality)

Relg - Tony Shaloub (Adrian Monk - need I say more? Don't touch me!)

Torak - Chris Hemsworth
(Handsome, toned, & already has experience playing a conceited god.)

Zakath - Alan Rickman

Ariana - Liv Tyler
(very pretty, but not all there - This MAY be a role she can't screw up...)

Adara - Anne Hathaway

Doroon - Justin Beiber
(Same logic as Liv Tyler, and people will watch just to see Justin Beiber slaughtered)

Beldaran - Diane Kruger

There are a few I've missed, but that's the majority.
