Re: If there was a movie? Harmless speculation is all, nothing more. I agree that fairly sizeable and important chunks were missed from LotR, but the Belgariad books are smaller, and if a movie were to be made - which in all likelyhood won't happen - then there's no reason why there couldn't be one film per book, as with the Harry Potter books. Not that we expect that anything like that will happen, but it's fun to dream every once in a while ![]()

Re: If there was a movie? I don't think a film would ever be made, and by some of our casting I don't think any size budget would cover it! I like to see who imagines who could play certain characters though- it makes you think about how you imagined those characters whilst reading the books. I still like the idea of a teatime series though-it would run for years! And each episode would have to have a five minute story so far at the beginning! Oh, that would be a job for Durnik, bless him, so that we don't forget him till his big scene!

Re: If there was a movie? Heh, the LOTR movies were far better paced than the incredible dreariness that are the books. All three of them should've been edited into one novel - just getting rid of every description of each tree, hill and brook that the characters travel through would probably do that. Saying that I never bothered to watch the third film, the story just doesn't do anything for me - I gave up on the third book partway through Frodo and Sam's interminable travels through Mordor.

Re: If there was a movie? It does get like that with LotR sometimes. ![]() Daisybee, I love the idea of a series. And having Durnik as a narrator would be a great idea, as his seriousness and reflective nature would be perfect for summing up what's been happening. ![]()

Re: If there was a movie? oh god yes... I loathe Durnik, having him narrate the beginning of the film would turn me right off the movie instantly... Now having Prophect do the narration would be great, that or Aldur... viewers may get confused hearing the voice of the narrator being the same as garion's friend without having a body to associate the voice with... Aldur could easily be included in the prologue...

Re: If there was a movie? I was suggesting Durnik for the re-cap narration on the tv series (that will never be made ). I don't think that the whole thing needs a narrator as such, just the odd.."So they travelled to Tol Honeth" kind of thing. Yes, I think the Purpose would be a good choice for this. How could anyone not like Durnik?! He's so bland and inoffensive Reliabilty is a vastly underated trait![]()

Re: If there was a movie? Aldur does make a couple of appearances - once in the Vale, and again at the end, although there may be other times. It's been a while since I read them myself. ![]()

Re: If there was a movie? It'd be nicely ironic, having God narrate..."Here's my disciple with assorted friends, travelling to clear up my mess!" I like the idea of the Prophecy doing it, but it would definitely require some serious prologgery. (I did a Belgarath and made the word up then.)

Re: If there was a movie? HAve you noticed what a witty and urbane lot we are in the Eddings' section? Others may scoff at our low-brow reading tastes, we may even gently mocki ourselves, but we have a finely tuned sense of humour and civility!
