what book is it?

Hi there!
The novel that I need a name for is about;
Black pyramids popping up in seven different locations over the world.
Scientists do go inside these pyramids.
The trouble is,that is all that I remember but I did know that I enjoyed it.
I probably read it 14 or 15 years ago and I have told my son about it because he likes science fiction books.
So.. if I could get help with the title it would be appreciated.
Hope to get help,
Stressed.

This would drive me insane. I have tried searching it though, but nothing matches what you have described.

Re: what book is it?

I did a bit google - fu, and I found something - unfortunatly very little, because the book seems to be out of print. And even the people still selling it donīt seem to bother to add a description.

The Pyramids from Space ( 1970 / 1977 ) by Jack Bertin ( Pseudonym of Peter B. Germano )

The pyramids appeared during Christmas holidays, silently - unexplainably sinister - enigmatic. They came down in Tokyo, in Moscow, in Paris, and in unsettled regions where no one saw them. The pyramids seemed harmless, and few suspected that they were cosmic traps sent to collect those unwary enough to enter them to a strange planet in a remote corner of the universe.

Re: what book is it?

Thanks for trying. It is so frustrating not being able to remember.
I think that the top of a pyramid appeared in a national park in America, then scientists were brought in to investigate it.For some reason{that I can't remember} it began to grow at certain time intervals. But once again thats the limit of my memory at the moment.Once again thanks for trying!

I remember that book as well, couldn't have told you the title, but it looks like Chopper is right and it is "Fade-out". It was a good book, from what I remember, I liked the mystery of what the pyramids were going to do next or what would be found inside them.

Re: what book is it?

personally i remember being a little disappointed by the uncertain and ambiguous ending - but being 13 or 14 at the time, i think i was after "straight" mainstream sf/f, which Fade-Out definitely is not. can't remember if they ever got inside the pyramids or not, either.

i'll rummage thru the library, see if i can dig up a copy.....got me intrigued again now!

Just to remind new members that they need a post count of 15 before they can include a link.

From what I remember one of the expedition (or possibly more than one) did go inside the pyramid but did not emerge again and they had no way to communicate with him (due to the electricity-negating effects of the pyramids). I can't quite remember what he found inside, but he did not want to leave because it was so fascinating.
