Dragonkin in Eleasia Eleasia is the world I've been working on off and on since some time in 2000. Recently I decided to have a few more branches of dragon-like creatures, as my Dragons are not specifically the archetypal beings. Here is what I've devised. What do you think of the terms and information in general? Dragonkin are descended from the dragons and their initial attempts at cross-breeding between their elements (14 in all, not all of which are perfectly compatible). One variation from these awkward pairings were ill-tempered, sentient and highly intelligent beings which more readily fit the medieval idea of dragons. They're more commonly known as dalaronin, meaning bad flight, literally, but which translates more fluidly from the original maiyenin to mean malicious fliers. Just as vicious, though with far less self-awareness and directed will, are the shaytaronin ("trouble flight", commonly viewed as the trouble makers of the sky). The last, smallest, and friendliest of the dragonkin are the drakinae ("little dragon"), or arhienndel, maiyenin for the maiden's companion. The dragons and their avatars are both feared and respected and powerful enough that almost no other but another dragon may successfully take the life of one in battle. Dalaronin and shaytaronin, however, may be killed with some difficulty by a highly skilled group of trained fighters. That's my written bit to keep it straight with me, and I'd just like to get the thoughts of others on the subject. ^_^

Re: Dragonkin in Eleasia Avatar... is that like a dragon rider? Or a humanesque familiar? I say it's time to start writing the story! You've got the idea hammered out- just avoid throwing too many strange terms at the reader in one go. For now, as long as you understand it, that's what matters. Anyway, the idea's 8 years old now- step on it! ![]() (Incidentally, I've got a dragon story from about that time period too, but it's "aging" right now; growing fine like wine and cheese, while I learn how to be a decent enough writer to write it. Or you could say I abandoned it, but I prefer my way of thinking. )

Re: Dragonkin in Eleasia --Laughs-- I prefer your way of thinking too. ^_^ And the avatars are a humanoid race which developed alongside the dragons, as per their wishes as the world was still being fully hammered out, and seeing that races of that size and shape were going to be common upon the land, they actually requested the avatars from the Gods. They all share a special mental bond, but there is one avatar for each dragon that shares one soul. So I guess you could look at them as humanesque familiars. ^_^
