Starship Troopers: Redone???

I see from Amazon(http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/...698878-8718843), that Starship Troopers is being republished... Does anyone know if this is the original, the film novel or a combination of the two??? Or something completely different to take into account society today???

And since he died in 1989, has someone else decided to "tweak" it???

I presume there was a film adaption released?

Either way, I would also figure it's a re-issue...

Re: Starship Troopers: Redone???

I'm currently reading Starship Troopers. My second Heinlein novel, (Tunnel in the Sky being my first) and I must say I love this book so far (Page 89).

I'm a fairly liberal thinker, so after reading some of the reviews of this book I wasn't sure if it would rub me the wrong way or not. I've been pleasantly supprised however. I'm enjoying every page.

Still and all, the first hour or so of Kubrick's Full Metal Jacket serves as a nice breather after ST.

Yeah, it might yet still, you probably haven't reached the part where Rico's teacher (highschool flashback) disassembles[sp?] the Constitution. Frankly though the future society that Heinlein draws is more libertarian than conservative and politics never disturb the military plot (of the book, not society in general).

To comment on the "repackaging" I must say that the cover art is atrociously unappealing and represents nothing that I remember from the book.
I still rate Starship Troopers as one of my all-time sci-fi faves and the obvious basis for the best rts ever created (Starcraft).

Re: Starship Troopers: Redone???

It is certainly more appealing that the original paperback cover, though. It may be apt, but it's quite a turn-off if you're simply browsing - it's quite up there on the cheese factor, besting even a few fantasy books.
