| Personality Types of GRRM Fans I once read that many science fiction/fantasy fans are INTPs. I think I see many of those in this forum. I personally like GRRM because he appeals to the "N" in me. None of his details are nonsense. Many of them mean something later, and I love that. I tend to skip over details if they aren't interesting. In ASOIAF, however, details are part of the greater picture. I can't poll for the 16 types, as I've only got an option for ten. So, I'll just poll for the most distinguishing factors (or for what psychologists classify to be the most distinguishing factors). If no one knows what I'm talking about, well.... That's not the first time it's happened in my life. j/k. I'm talking about Jung's 16 temperments, or the Myers-Briggs. Lastly, what personality type do you think GRRM is? I believe he is an INTP. I say I because he's drawn a world of his own. N for obvious reasons. T because if he were an F, his books would be more touchy-feely and more good things would happen to the "good" characters. And I say P for "perfection"!!!! Or for "procrastination"... No, the P type remains indicisive until the best decision is made. A J would have had ADWD dragons finished now but perhaps of lesser quality. George is fond of revising chapters, definitely a P-thing. Last edited by DeannaBelle; 18th February 2008 at 03:53 AM. | Re: Personality Types of GRRM Fans Well, I would have explained more, but I don't want people guessing their types from my own crappy description. I think it's best to take a test. Anyway, I'll sum up the poll options: NT - Rationals (iNtuitive Thinking) NF - Idealists (iNtuitive Feeling) SJ - Guardians (Sensing Judging) SP - Artisans (Sensing Perceivng) |

| Re: Personality Types of GRRM Fans you say "take a test" do you have a link to a decent online personality test? (I don't think any of us are sane enough to survive a trip to the phsychiatrists! (and some of use might just be sane enough to not warrent the trip in the first place ) |

| Re: Personality Types of GRRM Fans I did this about 10 years ago, but forgot what the results were and where the site is. It would be helpful for the OP to post a link, because it seems that most have no idea what the poll means. |

| Re: Personality Types of GRRM Fans Yeah, you're right about posting a link. Hard to make a decision though because there are so many sites. Anyway, this one gives a clear introduction to the four preferences (introversin vs. extraversion; sensing vs. intuition; thinking vs. feeling; judging vs. perceiving) : MBTI & Myers-Briggs Personality Type Introduction - Personality Pathways This link describes the four temperments: SJ, SP, NT and NF: The Four Temperaments This link has everything, every kind of test you want to take to learn about yourself (learning styles, areas of intelligence, Myers-Briggs type, etc.): Personality Test and Types (Myers-Briggs, Jungian Psychological Typology) It's really useful and sometimes funny to know your type. All of my friends know theirs (even in different circles), and we always joke to each other. Like my friend who's stressing out about her own baby shower, trying to make sure she's done everything on time, saying "I know, I'm such a J!" Another friend is an ENTJ, and when you ask her her type, she says, "TMJ" (that jaw condition). If you have kids, you can understand them better. If you have parents, you can have more mercy upon their shortcomings. If you have to be around people at all, you can better understand what makes each individual tick (I didn't say "completely understand," I said "better understand"). I highly recommend reading about it. It's full of theory for us N's and very practical for the S's. There's a similar thread to this one in the forum. Here's another member explaining it better and making better use of format: Quote:

I hardly have that much confidence in human-kind to entertain the idea that some of you may be sane enough not to be in want of therapy. Your former reasoning is much more aligned with my perceptions, however skewed and jaded they may be.![]() But yeah, the last link I put up has a decent test. Decent, I guess. I always think tests could be worded differently. Each test has its advantages and flaws. However, that site is prety good. | |
