| Re: Who is your favorite character is ASOIAF Quote:
Tyrion... i can't see how Tyrion would help Dany - he's a Lannister, brother to the Kingslayer and son of one of the Usurper's pawns... she can't possibly trust him. He's clever, true. show occasional glimmers of brilliance (the chain for instance) but he will never be more than a hideously maimed dwarf. either to others or to himself. its his greatest weakness - and one easily exploited as much as he professes to not care. Littlefinger though... you say he could make Dany unstoppable, then say your ambivalent about him. If your ambivalent, why include him in your list? That said, there are few more dangerous players in the Game of Thrones. He has a large, un-fielded army at his disposal, and a virtually impenetrable fortress. His 'country' is almost inaccessable. And he has both the heir and the current Lord of the Vale in his pocket. (though Harry the Heir could very easily be in Sansa's pocket if she learns her lessons well) He has so far proven the biggest winner in this game. At Dany's side, he would be a case of keeping your enemies closer. He may profess loyalty, but he's just looking for a way to increase his own power. | |

| Re: Who is your favorite character is ASOIAF No doubt, so far Little finger gets the best results. But I think that this is to do with his total lack of compassion for the pones, and the fact he has no higher vision besides his own ambition. The spider plays the same level, but he is limited by his compassion to non players - (Tyrion, Ned) and his devotion to the realm and the people of the seven kingdoms. This makes little fingers crush on Sansa fatal (to little finger) because his devotion for her narrows his maneuvering capabilities. Suddenly rapid and unpredictable moves (like killing Jofry for instance) may be limited by higher considerations that are defined by the strategic and now more defined goal (making Sansa happy). As for Tyrion, he is cunning, charismatic, and comes with good references (illirio mopatis and the spiders, that means baristan) these are very good reason for dany to trust him (the plot I think, will produce even better ones). His fascination with dragons is his reason to join the cause. However, in this stage, I don't see Tyrion as a major player, he is not cynical enough, much to emotionally involved with the pieces... |

| Re: Who is your favorite character is ASOIAF Well, consider his interaction with people that were not prejudice towards him from the beginning, the tribes of the mountains of the moon, Bron, Pod, the Viper... he is charismatic, but has a very bad reputation. |

| Re: Who is your favorite character is ASOIAF Pod in naive; Bron has been rewarded very well for his association with Tyrion, Oberyn Martell didn't stand with Tyrion for any reason except to confront The Mountain, and the Eyrie tribes were promised to be paid to keep Tyrion alive. He does have a bad reputation, and some few even realize his intelligence, but in no way is Tyrion a charismatic character. If he was, I suppose he could have convinced his father (who IS charismatic) to find him not guilty :P |

| Re: Who is your favorite character is ASOIAF his "charisma" WAS linked inextricably linked to Tywin's gold! Everyone is prejudiced against him from the beginning, but knowing he is a Lannister and had access to "all the gold of casterly rock" he was able to "buy" people's alliegence -however briefly. |

| Re: Who is your favorite character is ASOIAF [quote=MrWright;1101736]Pod in naive; Bron has been rewarded very well for his association with Tyrion, Oberyn Martell didn't stand with Tyrion for any reason except to confront The Mountain, and the Eyrie tribes were promised to be paid to keep Tyrion alive... :P[/quot] Pod is naive - a thing that has nothing to do with charisma, Pod is inspired by tyrion. Pod left every thing he knows in a search for tyrion. Bron has been rewarded very well for his association with Tyrion - yes, bron is a black hearted opportunistic bastard (by his own admission) and yet his relationship with tyrion is beyond simple greed. For no good reason he actually spite Cersey (that paid him with a bloody castle, a castle!) and calls loleys little bastard tyrion. Oberyn Martell didn't stand with Tyrion for any reason except to confront The Mountain - again, I don't say that people don't have their reasons and interests, but at the end there was a touch more than simple revenge in his act, hear him speaking to tyrion, he likes him from the start. The Eyrie tribes were promised to be paid to keep Tyrion alive... - the tribes of the mountain of the moon, the eyrie is something completely different, and to my point... the tribes listend to him, why? Why didn’t they chopped his little manhood and gave it to the goats at day one? Why do they cry "halfman" why didn't they take their steel, after their first battle and get the hell out of dodge city? Why dose Jon like him? And the old bear likes him? And the spider? And bloody sansa? (deny it all you want) Ill tell you why, ‘cause every outcast in the world finds him charming, bold, cunning, and amusing. He is a beckon to all those that think themselves betrayed by society. They like his as much as I do. quod erat demonstrandum Last edited by pan naranus; 16th April 2008 at 08:48 AM. |

| Re: Who is your favorite character is ASOIAF Crossed eddard - gave the gold clocks to crsey after promising them to ned. that's the cardinal sin. he took Lysa maidenhead as a substitute for cat's. later he killed her. He killed ser dontos who served him. he made lysa murder jon ayrin. he made the queen of thorns kill jofery. he made gregor calgan kill jon ayrin squire. I'm sure there is more, this is just the stuff that comes to mind at the moment, littlefinger was a busy busy bee. all in all, everything he dose is sort of justifiable, but he is not my candidate for the moral pillar of the year. he treats people as nothing but pawns. he holds humane life almost in contempt. |
