Re: Who is your favorite character is ASOIAF haha dont forget, you might say that robb never broke faith with roose, but he did marry that 16 yr old and completely broke his agreement to marry a frey. What a slap across the face. And as you say, winners write the history. I believe it could be possible that roose bolton knew that if he stayed loyal to the throne then his lands being in the north would be subject to annihilation. So he decided to be patient and look for the opportunity to prove his loyalty to the lannisters and the throne. It was ideal. Perfect. And yes, roose did kill the pathetic boy wanna-be king himself and that just proves his loyalty triplefold

Re: Who is your favorite character is ASOIAF Definitely Rhaegar, Oberyn and Petyr Baelish - the first two just being generally badass and the latter being the character who I think is best written, most interesting and has the most realistic motivations.

Re: Who is your favorite character is ASOIAF it seems to me that Roose was playing a very calculated game in this Game of Thrones. He was never going to be king himself, but he cleverly, and opportunistically, played both sides of the war... he professed loyalty to Robb, but was in contact with Tywin... clearly he's not a nice person, he's also not even remotely cool - he's a faithless, self-serving, conniving, back-stabbing, but still chillingly charismatic Lord of the North. He's anything BUT noble. He rather reminds me of Stannis in some respects... expects his due an all that...but in Roose's case, he doesn't seem the type to reward service or loyalty himself - as Stannis does - in his rather warped fashion. Anyone can say that they never betrayed the throne, when "seemingly" siding with their enemies... but there will always be a cloud of profound mistrust over Roose Bolton and his descendents. They will never rise further. but their current position is assured - enough...

Re: Who is your favorite character is ASOIAF Yeah, and there's a gentleness to him, all he really wants to do is watch the children playing in the water gardens. Come on Boaz, let's face, it Lannisters are all bad, Martells are all awesomely good, Starks are all honourable, Tullys are all boring, Targaryens are all crazy... ![]()

Re: Who is your favorite character is ASOIAF He just wanted Lord Tywin, Gregor Clegane, and whoever killed Rhaenys (I don't think he knew it was Amory Lorch.) Possibly wanted Jaime. Probably wanted Robert Baratheon. Maybe Ned and Jon Arryn. I don't think he would've harmed Myrcella. And since you mentioned overthrowing the government, does anyone else think his plan to make Arianne the queen of 7 Kingdoms was absolutely awful?

Re: Who is your favorite character is ASOIAF Yeah because that's like not his plan at all. He's planning to marry Quentyn off to Daenerys, thus Quentyn in a boat heading to Slaver's Bay.

Re: Who is your favorite character is ASOIAF Ygritte. Ok, even as the founding member of Y.A.D.L., that'd be a bold faced lie. Jon's my number one, followed in tandem by the brothers Tyrion and Jaime. And then Littlefinger, I love to not like that guy. I do wish that we were going to have more Donal though. Especially if he and Dolorous Edd went camping for a weekend.

| Re: Who is your favorite character is ASOIAF I'd say sansa, when love equals hate. Sansa is really a problem character, i hate the sort, and at the same time i cant truly, truly hate her. Luckily for me she betrayed her family, wich gets me off the hook, and allows her to truly hate her. Or at least dislike her. There are a few characters wich are easy to hate, like Gregory men, and so on. I never liked Tywin, wich is a bit strange since if i would follow the same reasoning i'd also dislike Stannis but i dont. To love a character is more difficult, much depending on the mood swing of the damn, sometimes i like evil ones, like Roose, then i am rooting for the good/better guys. | Re: Who is your favorite character is ASOIAF I don't think there's anyone in the series I feel more sorry for than for Sansa. I desperately hope something good happens to her soon. |

Re: Who is your favorite character is ASOIAF Now that Jon held the wall and is LC, he has edged out Tyrion as my favorite character. (I liked that he had to find the least dishonorable course of action) But really, Rickon is the character I wonder about the most. He must have a purpose, or GRRM wouldn't have included a four year old Rickon in AGOT. But, since Martin has said he was abandoning the idea of a 5 year gap I start to wonder if Rickon will be old enough to play the part GRRM intended for him. Perhaps Bran, or even Jon or Arya will be accomplishing whatever story element Rickon was intended for. If so, what will Rickon do? These are the things I worry about.
