Jon and Dany I have a theory that at the end of ASOIAF that Dany and Jon Snow will be the king and queen of the seven kingdoms. When know that it will be dany that takes away everything cersi holds dear. I feel jon snow has a greater destiny than being commander of the Night's Watch.

Re: Jon and Dany If this happened it would be a pretty happy ending. I don't think we're going to get a perfect storybook happy ending in this series. I believe the "bad guys" (Lannisters) will still have a lot of power in the end. The real enemy in the series is probably The Others. I can see them being destroyed by the end. I just don't think the overall politcal situation will be resolved quite so neatly.

Re: Jon and Dany I don't see Dany and Jon being married as a happy ending. I don't think they'd mesh well in marriage. Jon would probably be completely dominated, or they'd constantly fight. A storybook ending would be two people marrying for love, and I think theirs would be more political than anything else.

Re: Jon and Dany I agree with Lauren. If they ended up together, I think it wouldn't be for love. To me they don't seem like they would make a loving couple. I don't think their personalities go together. Whether or not it will actually happen, we will have to wait and see.

Re: Jon and Dany I actually didn't mean happy in the sense that they love each other and live happily ever after as the greatest rulers the world has ever known. I meant that for them to end up together ruling together means that everything else is neatly resolved and basically everything is copacetic from top to bottom. The good guys win, the bad guys lose. Targaryens and Starks (the "good guys) win and Lannisters (the "bad guys") end up as cooks and chambermaids. Nah, too easy. It's going to be an ending which doesn't satisfy everyone in that even the characters you hate most won't end up completely defeated and tidily put out to pasture.

Re: Jon and Dany While I agree that it will not end in the fairy tale manner, it makes sense that Dany and Jon would at least end up on the same side even if its nothing more than that. I would also be willing to bet that Tyrion will be the mechanism behind it.

Re: Jon and Dany Yes, but which one? Will Dany and Jon fight it out? Will it be Tommen? All contenders are bastards...TK you're right, but by default. Much of GRRM's work thus far has empowered bastards...he's raised Jon to a level that many highborn boys his age would not have been able to come close to obtaining.

Re: Jon and Dany TK is just trying to be opaque and oracular, I wouldn't put much stock in it. A bastard would have great difficulty holding the throne precisely because they *can't* inherit anything, not legally.

I believe that Jon may be one of the three heads. But I'm not sure if he will necessarily reign as king. If the wall is destroyed and gods and lands of Ice and Fire untie, then yes, Jon will be king. Otherwise, his place is at the wall. Unless (and this is ridiculous) he becomes the King of the Wall. | |

Re: Jon and Dany He said it would be a 'bittersweet' ending. I highly suggest reading some of GRRM's other fiction to see how he handles endings. I think Dying of the Light and Fevre Dream are good indications of how ASoIaF is going to end. Oddly, The Armgeddon Rag probably has GRRM's 'happiest' ending but even that is quite messy and not entirely clear-cut.
