Re: How old will you be when the last ASOIAF novel comes out? Achh... I'm not that far North of Colorado. And we have Minnesota, Michigan, and Lake Superior as a buffer between us and Canada. I just haven't started it yet because there were so many other unfinished series out there. I have plenty of classics to catch up on before diving into something I'll have to study on wikipedia before the next book comes out. But maybe another question to pose would is- do you think that waiting between books adds to the over all experience of a series, or is it better to read all the books in sequence? Personally, I've always enjoyed being able to read an entire series or trilogy back-to-back.

Re: How old will you be when the last ASOIAF novel comes out? You just trying to get my goat, Mr. Mountain State Man...well, yes, we have similarities with Wisconsin. Cows and football teams that play in snow storms (except Canadian football is played with a slightly large ball over 110 yards and with just 3 downs). See kauldron, how we have the knack of just turning the posting in a completely pointless and unrelated direction. That happens more it seems when we are beating already well massacred horses.

Re: How old will you be when the last ASOIAF novel comes out? I grew up in Dixie. That means anywhere that has snow is Canada. In my childhood, America consisted of a fairly ambiguous triangle between Chicago, Denver, and Disney World. If it did not fit into my life's experiential triangle, then it must be Canada, Mexico, Texas, California, New York or some other foreign country. I'm just trying to stir up a little controversy here... you know me. Also, I think I'm just avoiding the topic because it's too depressing. So instead of how old, etc... let's think in terms of How many thrilling theories will we get to read? How many taboo topics will we discuss? How many polls will we make about favorites? How many times will we stray off topic? How many ASOIAF Christmas presents might you get in the intervening years, i.e. the HBO series, action figures, art, autographed editions? How many of you will miss Boaz when the series is over? I'm all for prolonging the enjoyment. Anticipation is one of the greatest sensations.

Re: How old will you be when the last ASOIAF novel comes out? No no. that's not what I meant. That's a gorgeous pic of you! You see, the roles are little switched. Instead of the strikingly gorgeous redhead carrying the furry figure, Rothgar is a furry figure carrying a red head. Your catch phrase can be "Creatures of habit Enjoy the hour!" *Hopes to get out of this one unscathed* Boaz, we miss you already. Raise your hand if you can't get enough of Boaz!

Re: How old will you be when the last ASOIAF novel comes out? Let's see, I'm fifteen now so I'd say late twenties. Hope to be married with at least one child by that time. Maybe I'll call him Eddard! Or perhaps just Edward II and start a tradition.

Re: How old will you be when the last ASOIAF novel comes out? I'll be 48 years old. And by that time I will also come up with a witty rejoinder to over generalize the south, so as to properly defend my Wisconsin breathen against the tyranny of Boaz.

Re: How old will you be when the last ASOIAF novel comes out? I should be in my mid thirties by the time the series is finished. And I certainly hope I care about it as much then as I do now. But I will probably have a couple kids running around by then as well (already have the marriage and the mortgage). Maybe they'll help the time go by quicker between books! ![]()

And my generalizations of the east coast make Wisconsin seem like Paradise. Actually, aside from their accents I've loved everyone I've known from Wisconsin... my old boss, a friend in Denver. Both of 'em are great. I find it interesting that this is the only thread generating posts. And it's not like it's just me, Kiwi, TK, and the new guys... it's Slyde, Wiggs, JDP, and others chiming in. This indicates a good topic. Now... How old will you be when the next round of crackpot theories gets floated? | |
