Firefly fanfic by Steven Brust

I haven't read this myself yet, but Steven Brust is a pretty darn good writer (see the Taltos series and the Khaavren Romances, for example) and he has written a fanfic Firefly novel that can be found here:

Re: Firefly fanfic by Steven Brust

I have my doubts about any Firefly not actually featuring the awesome cast, but I'll give it a read

Re: Firefly fanfic by Steven Brust

thanks for the info!
considering his style of writing in his Taltos series he might just have the right kind of wit for Fire Fly!

Hmm. It's fairly concise. I'll give it a go. Thanks for the info.

Re: Firefly fanfic by Steven Brust

A few people who have already read it (over on the Mobileread website) say that Brust captured the dialog and feel of the show quite nicely! It's next on my list of books to read.

I understand he was working with Fox to write novel tie-ins, but the deal went south. Failing to finalize the deal on the story he'd written, he decided to just give it away.

Re: Firefly fanfic by Steven Brust

I just finished My Kind of Freedom the other day, and I loved every minute of it! Brust nailed the characters, and captured the essence of Firefly, the conflict, the history, the tensions, masterfully. If I could talk him into writing more of these, I would. If anyone else decided to write more Firefly stories, I'd advise them that they will all be held up to Freedom's standards. I'd strongly recommend it to every Firefly fan.
