| Re: Good advice from Iain Banks All part of the learning process. Remember, writing for commercial publication is a marathon, not a sprint. Polished, glittering prose, involving characters, learning what the reader needs to know (and what they definitely DON'T need to know), getting your dialogue right, creating a believable setting, editing and deciding when to stop - none of these things come overnight. |

| Re: Good advice from Iain Banks Yeah, I have to keep reminding myself of that ... There's always a temptation to "sprint" towards the finish line! Maybe if I wear a large number on my chest ... or throw a cup of water into my face, after every 2000 words? |
