Hey Gil

I take it 5 a side is on the smaller court with the fake turf? I played a game with friends a few months back when i was in Ireland, I told them it was probably the first time I've kicked a round ball in 20 years and no one seemed to have any trouble believing me

We dream of having fake turf. No, for us it's a choice of wooden floor or tarmac. We prefer wood.

Re: Gil. Who the heck is he?

Well we lost our first game. We were winning in the first half 3-2 but they scored four goals to none in the second half. It was pouring with rain. It was awesome.

Re: Gil. Who the heck is he?

Welcome to the chronicles Gil.

I'm a programmer of sorts myself, dabble in a bit of C,C++,VB etc. but it's mostly a hobby nowadays...But seriously writing a compiler! by the Gods! can't imagine me doing that in my wildest dreams.

Cheers, DeepThought

Thanks for the additional welcomes.

Speak French, Swedish and Malay, all very rusty.
Write Java, Pascal, Fortran, Cobol, many, many machine codes and many others I've forgotten.

It's not so very hard. You write down the syntax of the language is a certain way, then you just plod through all the tokens and do the appropriate thing with each one. There are one or two skeletons for C-like languages (and most are C-like these days) and you just hang your own constructs on the bones.

As for the Forth language, it's particularly weird. It works on a stack. You push stuff on the stack, and each command pulls the requisite number of items off the stack, operates on them and shoves the answer back on the stack.

Meowrr and Namaste. Just know that you are doomed. Escape is impossible and you really should not believe anyone who tells you they are quite sane by any accepted standard. In return we offer books, movies, music, cats and possibly chopsticks along with conversations on just about anything and everything along with peanuts, cakes, chocolate and whisky.

As for the basement, please feel free to visit. We're always hungering for visitors. If you bring a feather boa or fluffy slippers all the better. Otherwise just bring yourselves and a yummy sauce.

Come visit the Tea Room (The Quiet Room) and tell us about your favourite authors, movies, music ... It's always a good idea to bring something intriguing for the cat when visiting.
