Newbie gets hooked

Well, I just watched the complete series, followed by the film, this weekend. I think I fell in love with it when I realised the space sequences had no sound - as it should be. The Sound-of-a-rocket-engine-in-a-vacuum has been something I've hated for years. There's lots more I could comment on, but I'll wait until I stop fizzing.

Totally agree with your points about sound in space! Wonderful series, wish it was longer.

Yep - I got hooked in a similar way and watched the whole series over a few nights. In a way I wish I'd rationed it a bit more to make the enjoyment last longer. Fantastic - a real shame that it was so short.

Re: Newbie gets hooked

Glad you enjoyed it. I actually watched it the wrong way round, in that I watched the movie "Serenity" first and then went back and watched Firefly, it made more sence the next time I watched Serenity.
Yep total agreement, far to short, a damm shame really. Still we live in hope!

aye - hope - tis all that we have left
great series -- nay - a masterpeice in the works - culled before it could grow and mature.
Plus in its original TV release the staition that showed it got the series order wrong (how do you do that I ask?)

Just goes to show that the networks don't know what to do with a series that is a little different.

Re: Newbie gets hooked

You'd think with all the interest and the many, many people who love it, that they would have at least realised it was financially worthwhile if nothing else.

My regular DVD seller tells me that the series gets bought out every single time he brings in the boxed set.

Re: Newbie gets hooked

I'm not sure now that it could be brought back - do you? I think so much of what happened in the film prevented any series being made as a follow up. I suppose they could make a series that came before the film - i.e. more leading up to it. Its a while since I saw the film so I can't really be sure that would quite work.

Re: Newbie gets hooked

there is a definate gap between the film and the series which could be solved as there are many gaps: Why Book is not on the ship; where are the two with blue hands; who in the verse is Mr. Universe?
Along with those there is plenty of scope for extension of hte series after the film, the recent releation of the governments involvment with the exeriments on the planet. I could see a sceond series building upon a possible collapse of the goverments control of hte outer rings - a return to the wars - and what would Mal do in that?
Plus there is still much about Rivers character to be explored - many answers for this were in the film, but there is still lots of potential within that character to be exposed.
There is lots to make, but the problem will be getting the cast back - Wash is out of the series so getting him back for a series set between the film and the first series might prove a problem -- other commitments might also be a problem (Inara was/is in stargate) but I reckon that given the funds we would see FireFly back ...............

Lets see in the Movie we lost Book, Wash and Mr Universe (Mr Who?)
It could go either way. As Overread has mentioned there is a gap between the end of the series and Serenity, things that could be tied up, but there is still plenty of scope for things to come after Serenity. How does everyone deal with the loss of Wash and Book and Mr Universe (Who?) The secret is about about the Riveers but I am sure there are still quite a few around.

Again as Overread has said there is still so much more to find out about River (Bet no one knew she was a Cyborg (sorry wrong series) Whats with Inara and our handsome captain Mal, is love in the air?
Please bring back Firefly, we all live in hope!!!!
