Lovecraft was good at mining his own old stories for ideas which he then refined into new, better stories, so how about... "Dagon" and "The Call of Cthulhu", for example?

Ah, but that will change with the next post....

There are several such: "The Nameless City" and At the Mountains of Madness; "Facts Concerning the Late Arthur Jermyn and His Family" and "The Shadow Over Innsmouth"; even some aspects of "The Tomb" and "The Unnamable" or The Poe-et's Nightmare and The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath (most notably, on a literal level, lines 250-265 of the poem). (And, of course, with the Dream-Quest, you could also include "Celephaïs" as well.) These are only a few of many you could choose from....
