I'm directing Wyrd Sisters, adapted by Stephen Briggs for the theatre in a little over a week.

It is based in Cardiff, Wales in the Sherman Theatre. Do take a look, I obviously love this book and want to share my thoughts on it with the rest of you.

Hi, People (especially Astroman!) - It's my first post on this forum (Hip, Hip, 'Ray!).

I too am foolish enough to be directing Wyrd Sisters, adapted by Stephen Briggs for the theatre, in a little over a week. This time The Sisters are in Essex (land of the Witches) in Kelvedon (near Chelmsford), and here is our very own commercial! -

"Be transported to a land of magic, conspiracy, rather sharp daggers and bloody big scythes.



When:

• Friday 24th October - Saturday 25th October
• Friday 31st October - Saturday 1st November

On Friday 31st October, you too can join the cast of ghosts, demons and witches for a Halloween-themed special performance (fancy dress optional, but encouraged!). Then for the final performance on Saturday 1st November, invitations will be sent out from Hub to Rim, from Ankh-Morpork to Krull, asking all of the citizens of the Discworld to attend, so feel free (if you want to!) to dress up as your favourite Terry Pratchett character."

Astroman - how was it for you back in January - did the Earth move, or just your bowels?? Please let us know.

I hope to be back in a fortnight or so to give you the lowdown on our own little visitation.

having been there & done that (1995, i think?) i wish you the best of luck! i played the conjured demon and the rights-knowledgeable peasant (amongst other roles) at Sheffield's Merlin Theatre. we kept some scenes running as frozen tableaus behind some of the shorter scenes and my favourite memory was ad libbing the peasant "it was a good goat too, till he burned it. red sky at night, my goat's on fire...." and hearing the entire - unprepared - tableau behind me collapse corpsing.
Made some good money for the Orangutan Foundation too, if i recall.

Some great ideas there, Chopper! Pity it's too late to pinch them!

My own favourite scene is when the licenced robbers are "mugging the clown!" (- "It wasn't real kicking, more like foot nudging").

We are planning a number of special surprises for our audience, especially when the witches 'fly' round the city of Lancre. We also have a Greebo, and a Standing Stone (not!) in our cast list.

Just a week to go now, so we are at the mad panic, "It'll never come together at this rate" stage, but it's been great fun at rehearsals.

I hope we can persuade one or two local Pratchett 'groupies' to come and see it, and that they'll put on their favourite Discworld costumes for the occasion. I can't wait to see The Luggage and the Librarian queuing for a glass of wine in the interval - bizarre yet so right!!
