Will pug and thomas die?

Well the title, Magician's End, has just made my hypothesis about Pug a little better.

There are any number of magicians who could come to an end, it was so hard to loose nakor, not pug.....

However, I think it is most likely refering to Pug, but, 'end' doesn't always indicate death!

Actually, it could just be a play on words saying that it is the last Midkemia book. 'Magician' is the start so the whole storyline is at an end? Maybe not, but it is another solution

seeing as Pug will see everyone he loves die before him he will die at the end of the last book when the universe collapses in on itself

I actually liked Aruthas death. Too many people seem to think heroes should die in battle... I don't see why. We now know Arutha lived to an old age, served the kingdom well and had a good life. What more do you want for your favourate character?

Tomas is underused, but he might be coming more into action with the new race qwhatsits.

For me Pug won't die at the end. There is too much opportunity for a sequel incase ReF ever decides he wants more cash. Plus with the prophecy if he were to die then Tomas, Magnus, Caleb, Miaranda and a few others would have to be killed off prior to that... thats quite a culling of major characters

Well Miranda can go free of charge and Magnus as well.
Perhaps Magic in Midkemia will end, hence Magicians end!?

I feel we may see the introduction of new characters soon that may turn the tide against Pug or for him. I still see the 'dead' characters we all know and love resurrected somehow at the end, mark my words

It is hard to imagine that the last book will deal with the "end of magic" as such even though a title like Magicians end could mean that. To me Feist
has spent too much effort into making magic seem like a way to "manipulate stuff" as Nakor says at several points. And how should that "end"?

I personally suspect that Pug will die in the final book, as Fake Vencar says, it does provide a neat symmetry. We'll see - I think an equally interesting question is how much torment he will go through before the end...

As for Tomas I doubt very strongly that his death or not will be a big deal. In some ways he's my favorite character (although I readily admit that he is not very well developed and is mostly a "cartoon-y" character throughout but he is always kept well on the side in the books.

I think Feist fears that Tomas is too powerful even though he seemed to strip him of most of his power at the end of ADaS.

Perhaps when everyone accepts Nakor's theory, they will realise it is all a trick - thus magic no longer exists as such, in an age of enlightenment old beliefs are ridiculed and buried. With such an advancement perchance machines could be crafted to allow less powerful individuals to manipulate 'stuff' more easily - nuclear reactors etc.

More likely I have to admit, Pug will kop something nasty and shuffle of this mortal etc. Still hoping they stick with the bead of misadventure idea though...

I've been wondering: Is Tomas immune to poison? There has been no sign that he is in the books so far, so perhaps this is one possible way of killing him outright.

I agree though Woody, Feist is afraid of Tomas' power and I fear this may make him less likely to put him into situations where Tomas would just wipe the floor without a real plot

Which is good in a way, characters which are too strong can be a real weakness in fantasy. Jordan had to increase the strength of Rand's foes after he became IMO (No humility with this one) too strong in the story

As to poison, Tomsa is hit by a poisened arrow, in the riftwar I believe, and survives but is ill. So, I guess poisen would kill him but it'd take a lot more than for most other beings. A good an option though, never thought of that!
