Any one have this happen? Very Odd.

I have some weird metaphysical/paranormal stuff happen to me a lot. But this was pretty weird. I was writing a passage about my main character and how energy was filling their body and their vision, while eyes closed, was perceiving the fluctuations of the energy. And mid point of writing my lights go, and start strobing. I was basically staring at my computer screen as my room was filled with the same lights that I was writing about...

anyways, Just thought it was weird, yet not so much considering other things in my life. Curious if anyone else has had any other similar occurrences.

Hmmm... not like that, in regards my writing. However, as I've said before, I wrote a scene in which one of my characters falls down the stairs... then I promptly fell down the stairs after writing it.

Oh, and before anyone thinks I have a deathwish, let me just say this was purely by accident. Honest.

I'm thinking this thread might get moved by a mod - it suits "Aspiring Writers" better. This section is solely for resources and the like, to help writers improve their craft.

The sad thing is. I don't know if the fixture is messed for lights, or just the bulbs... the weird thing is Both bulbs do it. garrr, now I have to buy bulbs.

If they're fluorescent, then the flickering is perfectly normal. Mine go do it off and on all the time. (And now something in the light itself has gone bust, and it's not just the bulbs anymore.)

You're also sure you weren't subconsciously picking up story cues from your living/working situation? And that it wasn't a perceptual thing; i.e. in your head, or in your vision, which (not to make you nervous!) could be a sign of epilepsy (people who suffer from seizures sometimes experience a semi-hallucinogenic state beforehand.)

Otherwise, weird stuff does happen sometimes. I was playing Go Fish once with a friend, and I could feel the right cards before I picked them up, and darn it if they ALL weren't the right ones (in fact, I won the game in a single go without picking up any wrong cards.). A whole scattered mess of cards, and I knew where they all were! (But being that I do believe there are demons that whisper little lies and things in our ears, I stopped listening, because I just don't need that kind of thing. And fortunately it hasn't happened since.)

Re: Any one have this happen? Very Odd.

I've been that tired, writing, that my eye-lids flickered, strobe-like...

Um, that was around the time I'd wake with my head on the keyboard and a 'Project Lorraine' chapter in the tray that I didn't remember composing, never mind typing...

FWIW, in the light fitting above me, there are two 'curly-whirly' low energy bulbs, and one 'trad' filament. See, when switched on, those 'low-energy' devices take a while to 'spin up', and may flicker meanwhile. Having a 40w lit from the first half-cycle masks that flicker. And, yes, means you can cross room without waiting...

I'm hoping the new, hyper-bright LED modules can also provide a viable substitute for strip-lights...

haha. it wasn't a epileptic ciezure coming on... The lights are still broken. They are florescent and probably do need to be replaced. And by all means it could be a perfect coincedence. It was just odd because I was writing about it at that exact moment... not 5 mins or a day earlier. That moment.

I don't think it's a warm up thing with these lights... I have left them on for long periods and just sat in the strobe and nothing changes... But it isn't fun. I am glad I am not epileptic, or I would seizure.
