Ah well, see you in the bar sometime beforehand!
Ah, yes! I see the programme clash. That's unfortunate. Not to worry, I'm sure we'll get together at some point during the day. I need to meet up with Freda and Mike at some point as well ... and I understand that Amanda Hemingway is going to be there. I'm not going to be able to get to many panels for all the little reunions. I guess that's part of what Eastercon is all about, though. It will be good to catch up with a few people.

Are we going to have stickers or just try and find a time when it is possible for everyone to meet up?

A timed meet up isn't a bad idea. Would you like to suggest a time and place? (I was going to say 'Your place, or mine?' but I thought better of it!! )

Re: Eastercon 2008, Orbital

I was thinking the launch party too but Mark has his panel on right at the same time. I guess the rest of us could make both but he can't. Unless he gets a pocket universe really soon.

Your place or mine .... it'd be like a room party and we'll all be evicted.

Sadly, Ian, Mark's going to be on a panel then; otherwise, a great idea.

Re: Eastercon 2008, Orbital

There's something they say about great minds and/or fools ....

Okay how's about we meet at Ian's launch and then go see Mark when his panel gets done.

I for one need to get my grubby paws on Imperial Traitor before I kick someone. I WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS IN THE END. It's very frustrating.

Ian, if your launch party is like most I've been to at cons, it'll still be going strong after Mark's panel has finished :-)

Re: Eastercon 2008, Orbital

That is a valid point indeed .... so Mark could come on over after he's done with day jobs and such like and the rest of us could have our cake and eat it too.

Re: Eastercon 2008, Orbital

Unfortunately, straight after the launch party the convention's 'Official Opening Ceremony' is scheduled, so we're all likely to get kicked out...

Yes, I know the Con will already be many hours old by then (I'm moderating a panel item at midday, with our own John Jarrold on the panel), but that's the way it's happening.

By the way, have you seen the authors who are going to be at the launch? In addition to myself, Chris Teague of Pendragon Press and Mark Newton of Solaris (whose debut novel is also being launched at the party) a few of the anthologies' contributors will also be present and available for signings...

How does Christopher Priest, Leigh Kennedy, Lizzie Priest, Pat Cadigan, Ian Watson, Liz Williams, Jon Courtenay Grimwood (probably), Justina Robson, Freda Warrington, Martin Sketchley, Dave Hutchinson, Kim Lakin-Smith, Kari Sperring and Claire Weaver sound to be getting on with?

Mike and I will be there... we'll be at Ian's party, and generally hanging around the bar/dealers' room/art show!

Looking forward to seeing you all,

Freda

Re: Eastercon 2008, Orbital

Looking forwards to seeing you there, Freda. My panel has just been changed to 3-4pm, so I can now make the launch party for the new anthologies - hurrah! Have you been twisting arms again, Ian?

Well, just under two weeks to go!

Hotel booked, train tickets got, just got to find enough money to buy a few drinks.
