Curious Question:

Read this please and speculate ......

It has been theorized that a dragon underneath Winterfell was awoken during the castle's fall, that had been living in the warmth of the hot springs for hundreds of years.

This theory comes from something seen from Summer's point of view on ACOK p956

The smoke and ash clouded his eyes, and in the sky he saw a great winged snake whose roar was a river of flame. He bared his teeth, but then the snake was gone.

Others claim that the vision Summer saw was not a real dragon, but merely a prophetic vision, or perhaps his interpretation of the comet in the sky. However, Osha says something interesting in the same chapter, ACOK p964

"We made enough noise to wake a dragon."

Could this possibly be foreshadowing, or is it just an innocent phrase?

I totally missed this part! Good observation! I'm not good with speculations, so I'll wait for others (other members of this forum, not the real Others... Gosh, I sound like Podrick...)

Re: Curious Question:

I do not think so Ston. If you see the entry the wolf clearly uses the word flame. So, he can distinguish between fire and such. I read further on a few sentences later and saw that Summer definately knows what fire is.

If it is the comet then why does it disappear?

Re: Curious Question:

Its a nice theory, i orignally thought it was a wolfs view on the flames, but you are correct since it knows the what Flames are then it might be somethign else.
I originally had the thought there would be a dragon under WInterfell dont know where that theory came from ill reread Game of Thrones one of these days and make a comment, but for now Jon might not be one of the three heads because he has his own Winterfell Dragon

Re: Curious Question:

I was looking at some older threads and came across this. I think it adds an entirely different dimension to any "end game" theory and merits further discussion.

I've always envisioned the final conflict being Dany's dragons (Fire) vs. The King of the North (Jon) and his forces- The ancient powers of the north, the wolfpack, etc. Add a dragon to the side of "Ice" and things become very interesting, especially since this dragon would be very fully grown.

Anyway, the end is something I've never seen discussed, at least in the threads I've checked. Boaz post is certainly a nice jumping off point.

Re: Curious Question:

In one of the books Dany has a very vivid dream where she is on the back of one of her dragons at the Trident and she is fighting and army, but is made of cold and ice. She remembers feeling that "This is what she was meant to do. That this feels right"

I always believed that Fire and Ice means the interwoven tale between the Starks and Targaryens AND the fact of love, passion, life of humanity as fire vs the cold, darkness and hatred for warm blood of the others as Ice.

I think Endgame will be Dany and her dragons fighting the others and then some tragedy occuring. Perhaps a Pyrich (spelling?)victory.

P.S.

Still havent figured out what Summer saw. Dragon or comet or vision.
