Re: Charm of discworld 1. What is it you like most about T.P. and his books and why? How he satirizes the wolrd of today. 2. Why do you think he is so famous? Because his work is of a consistent high level, and he stays approachable. 3. What is/are your favorite book/s and why? Anything with Death as a main character, because he's one of the most remarkable and original characters written in decades.

Re: Charm of discworld He's funny, dark and I love his imagination. He's so famous because he's never boring and as the others say he's so consistantly great. You're right about the hat AE My favourite books?? mmm...Men at Arms always makes me laugh...Lords and Ladies cos it's so dark but when Nanny Ogg takes her bath after being in contact with Elfs made me cry with laughter, I feel off my chair. I lso loved The Hogfather and anything to do with Death... ![]()

Re: Charm of discworld 1. What is it you like most about T.P. and his books and why? I like the way that if you don't get one of his jokes, you won't even know that there was a joke. I also like the way you can read them once for the engrossing story, and once for the subtle parodies or outrageous absurdities which make sense only in the context of the books. 2. Why do you think he is so famous? I think his light humour and compact storylines make even a short book of his fun and easy to read while still being complex and innovative enough to entice everyone back for a second look. 3. What is/are your favorite book/s and why? At the moment my favourite is probably Thud!. This is mostly because I like his take on Troll/Dwarf relationships, and also because Vimes is possibly the most interesting character ever put on paper.

Re: Charm of discworld 1. What is it you like most about T.P. and his books and why? It's the satire, the fact that his books are reflections on our society, the way we think and our choices brought to life in a remarkably insightful, yet humorous unique style. Also his characters are remarkable. As one critic put it, (paraphrase) the humor comes from the characters as they go about their lives, not the introduction of pratfalls and literary banana peels into the plot. 2. Why do you think he is so famous? Same reasons as above. 3. What is/are your favorite book/s and why? I'd have to go with characters, though I think his books have gotten stronger as they've gone on. I love the idea/character of Susan Sto Helit (Theif of Time is a favorite), Granny Weatherwax (Masquerade is up there for me), and Samuel Vimes (The Fifth Elephant is one of my overall favorite novels). I am also particularly fond of the character (and storyline) of Tiffany Aching. I feel as though I learn and grow with these characters with every book that comes out.
