| POV GRRM mentioned In his Jan. 1st update, GRRM said, "I'm adding some chapters from the point of view of one of the characters featured in the first lot of Ice & Fire miniatures from Dark Sword, a character who has never had a POV in any of the earlier books." I checked out the Dark Sword Mini's, and these are the ones listed:
This leaves Loras, Sandor, and Melisandre as possible new POV's, I THINK, since previously he had said that Quentyn would be the final POV (I guess he changed his mind?) I'm guessing/hoping that Loras will be the new POV he's referring to, what are your thoughts? |

| Re: POV GRRM mentioned Sandor would be the best to me. I could care less about what Loras is thinking. Sandor is a deeply complicated and conflicted character with so many layers that I would love to get inside his head. I think Melisandre is out because she falls into the realm of "knows too much to be a POV" like Littlefinger and Varys. |

| Re: POV GRRM mentioned A toss up between Sandor and Loras (although I would prefer Sandor). Either would confirm that Sandor is not dead and Loras is not burned - and likely on his way to Dany. But don't count out Mel if she either kills Stannis or leaves him. |

One POV that would bore me terribly would be Loras. But maybe not. George can make the most boring of characters interesting. Maybe there are terrible secrets to him, and maybe we can see what the Tyrella are really all about.

| Re: POV GRRM mentioned It could be MEslisandre, seems with Jon and Stannis both competing for being Azor, her dilemmas and thoughts could be fun to read, eben thou i dont like her one bit, which means makes her fun to read about ![]() |

| Re: POV GRRM mentioned Unless they go to the Free Cities or into the North, then Loras and Sandor are both out because they're in the wrong location (ADWD focuses on characters in the North and the East, whilst AFFC focused on characters in the South). We also saw Sandor fairly late in the day in AFFC and the timeline means it's unlikely anything will happen that will warrant a POV from Sandor later on (although given that Asha and Arya are both in ADWD as well, that's not a complete impossibility). Loras is a good possibility. There's stuff going on on Dragonstone that could warrant a POV (we could find out if Stannis' men managed to grab the obsidian he wanted to fight the Others) and I think GRRM has acknowledged that having elements of explicit lesbianism in the books whilst not really delving into the male gay characters is a bit unfair, so that's another reason to give Loras a POV or two (although not a good enough reason by itself, obviously; he has to fulfil a good story function). However, Melisandre is the most likely candidate: SPOILERS: If Jon is going over the Wall to punish the oathbreakers who killed the Old Bear - and spoilers and the AFFC/ADWD cast list suggest some of the action takes place at Craster's Keep - and Stannis is going west to fight the ironborn, then Mel gives us a POV on the Wall itself. Also, Mel doesn't know too much. She's been pretty much consistently wrong about everything so far, such as the true identity of the PWWP. She just likes to pretend she knows everything and puts on an air of pointless mystery. In many ways, she's like the Sphinx from Mystery Men ![]() |

Anyway, Melisandre makes the most sense based on where the story in ADWD is supposed to be concentrated.

| Re: POV GRRM mentioned Uggh gross maybe I'm just biased against Melisandre because most of the chapters concerning Stannis (in my opinion) have been downright boring. I don't really think Loras and Sandor can be taken out because of location, just because (I think) GRRM has mixed so many things into this book (hence the reason it wasn't finished when it was first projected. But if Loras is being sent to Dany, his will be repetitive, just a different take on Quentyn's. I'm rambling... I don't really know what my point was going to be. |

| Re: POV GRRM mentioned I'm holding out for Loras on this one. I'd love a Tyrell insider - we might actually find out exactly how Joffrey died! Besides, I've always liked Loras and I'd rather Sandor remained mysterious. Mel is a possibility I guess, but we already have Jon at the Wall to tell us Stannis' side of the story. |
