Re: Valryia

Didn't it get consumed by fire and crumble into the ocean, or something dire like that? Or do you mean in flashback...?

Re: Valryia

Valyria is still there I thought. I always imagined it as a black, burnt, barren land where the very air itself is poisonous. In fact, I always wondered how Euron managed to survive there.

I figured it was inhabitable. However, new life grows... after time...

I'd forgotten Euron had visited...

Re: Valryia

It is still there. Valyria used to be a peninsula extending southwards into the Summer Sea from the eastern continent, possibly as much as a thousand leagues (3,000 miles) from Westeros. It formed the western edge of Slaver's Bay. When the Doom took place - almost certainly the simultaneous eruption of the enormous volcanoes known as the Fourteen Fires - Valyria became an island. Its towns and the central city of Valyria itself were devastated by the volcanic eruption. However, the ruins are still there. As well as Euron, one of Tyrion's uncles (Tygett?) was said to have gone there looking for a Valyrian sword to claim for House Lannister.
