New ADWD Update and Spoiler Chapter

After nearly a year, GRRM has promised to update the ADWD Update page on his website in the next 1-2 days.

Y'know, the one he promised not to update until the book was done.

Hmmm. Does this mean ADWD is done, you may ask?

Well, I wouldn't bet on it. But we'll see in a little while. There's also going be a new spoiler chapter, GRRM having alternated enough between the same Dany and Tyrion chapters for the last two years.

Even if it's not the news we're waiting for, it's still intriguing.

Don't be surprised if his website implodes as people log onto his site and click RELOAD repeatedly for the next 72 hours.

Seriously, I know people who do this even without there being forewarning of an announcement.

Lots of people are pondering what the spoiler chapter will be. I'm guessing, like the existing two, it will be one that he's already read at a convention, which would make it:

A Jon, Asha or Davos chapter, or possibly the prologue.

More intriguing is the news about the announcement. If it isn't the completion announcement, it may be a more detailed breakdown on how many pages he has completed and how much more work he projects before the book is completed. He did this in the last year or so that he was working on AFFC.

This is GOOD news. Something, anything, I'll take whatever I can get. *crosses fingers* Please oh please let it be a completion announcement !!! I've got to go call all the other GRRM addicts that I know. Is this why I haven't been able to access the ASOIF board all night ? Everybody is discussing this juicy tidbit of info. Thanks Wert.....I must admit I'm one of "those" that hits refresh on the official site. I was hoping something would turn up in the next day or two. A new sample chapter could lead to more discussions, and more discussions means I don't have to spend so much time on Facebook. YAYYYYY !!

Re-reading his blog, I think he's downplaying the chances of it being the completion announcement, as he states that he didn't finish ADWD in 2007 and he regrets that. Unless he's being very pedantic (he's expecting to finish in the next day or two, in 2008, and then he'll put the announcement up), that means he ain't finished yet. He may be able to announce that he's close though or he may be announcing that he's finished the new Dunk 'n' Egg story (which would tie in with his announcement that work on Warriors, where the story will appear, is going well).

This is great news, I can't wait to read the next sample chapter, what a nice late Christmas present from GRRM!

As for whose POV we get, I'd love either the new perspective of Quentyn, or a Theon chapter from inside the Dreadfort, but anything will be good!

I'm pretty sure it was determined in AFFC that Maggi was just a smallfolk mispronunciation of "maegi". It's nothing trickier than that.

No, Lade Maege Mormont is the Lady of Bear Island, the sister of the Old Bear, Jeor Mormont, and the aunt of Jorah Mormont, Dany's erstwhile ally.

Maege Mormont was sent into the Neck to forge an alliance between Robb and Howland Reed, and thus avoided the Red Wedding where her eldest daughter and heir was killed.

Ya, I missed it on his site for some reason and would be grateful for a link as well. If there is one that is. And I'm guessing the one for Dany is the one thats at the end of AFFC?

Yeah, Viz is right. It is just the mispronouncement of Maegi. FFC I believe.

Really enjoyed reading the new update and am intrigued by the promise of another new POV. And I'm cautiously optimistic about reading ADwD later this year
