Yeah, and that would probably sell more than my idea because of the fact that Albus was gay and for some reason that set the world on fire. Any grown up character would work, I think. Personally, I think a book telling about Hogwarts's forming would be nice (I don't recall how much detail J.K. went into on this topic in the books, so if it's been talked about enough than my bad).

Re: 8th book

In a way that's the difference between how an author sees his/her work and how it ends up being written. From everything I've seen, JKR always mentally pictured/assumed he was gay, she never felt it necessary to write it explicitly. How much other back-story is there in her head that the fans would find interesting? For example, about the founding of the school: things she's already developed for her own benefit but never included in the book, or that fell out during editing.

Re: 8th book

I would have thought that the obvious way to go would be "Hogwarts - the Next Generation", with a new threat to be dealt with by the Potter, Weasley and Malfoy children.

Re: 8th book

Yeah and that series would've been really horrible, especially condsidering the deus ex machina ending to the later books. That's my opinion o' course.

Re: 8th book

Don't pretty much all of the seven books contain McGuffins of that sort?

Re: 8th book

Yes but the earlier books were considered "childrens" so it was okay.

Good enough for Star Trek....
But you could write a pretty fair sequel on those lines, if you incapacitated the adults in some way, so only the kids could use magic, or something like that.

I don't know. Wouldn't it be basically the same adventures that the parents had, or at least close enough to the same thing? Besides, with the awful names the kids had, it would be confusing.

Re: 8th book

Imbasals!!!! There can be no 8th book of Harry Potter!!! There are no more horcruxes and Tommy (Voldemort) is dead. Besides havent books 4-7 put us through enough emotional stress? I mean Ceddric, Sirius, Albus, Severus, Colin, Fred, Nymphadora, Remus, and everyone else who put a tear in my eye, Are D-E-A-D dead! So No, No, No! 8th Harry Potter book

Re: 8th book

Easy tiger...

I don't believe there was ever any intention for a novel(#) starring Harry Potter, however far in the future. There is some talk of the possibility of a novel set in the Harry Potter "universe", in JKR's created fictional world where magic users call the others "Muggle" and so on.

You may want to keep an eye on Spoilers in future postings, too. (And it's "imbeciles".)

(#) - There is also talk of an encyclopaedia, putting into formal print all the notes which JKR had made for herself, the like of which are glimpsed in a few places on her website.

Re: 8th book

The only problem with JK Rowling writing such a successful series, she is going to have to go in a totally different direction. Now that she has finished her final book. There could be some people out there who would start to label her as a "one trick pony" if she tries to stay with the same formula with a different set of characters.

Does she have it in her to write another successful series of books after Harry Potter?

I think I've now heard of a legal case where someone else is doing an unauthorised encyclopaedia which the publishers are jumping on...
