Re: Thoughts(Farseer Spoilers)

psssst Shing - there is a really glaring error in that post - really rather nasty - quick
I would have been interested in seeing if Fitz ever managed to form another bond - I don't think he could go without forever, Burrich grew up in a stricker environment with regard to wit use (as I see it) but Fitz always went back to the wit when young - I think its too much a part of him for him to drop forever

Re: Thoughts(Farseer Spoilers)

I'm sure Fitz still uses the Wit, just I doubt he'll ever bond to another animal again since Nighteyes. Plus now he has Molly and kids and Patience. Perhaps if he didn't have Molly he may have ended up bonding another wolf or something. I should quit thinking and typing about the series now, only going to make it harder to sleep. It's over and will just keep making me want more this way. Bla.

Re: Thoughts(Farseer Spoilers)

Does anyone have any recommendations on how to get books out of your head? All I can think about is how Fitz and Molly are finally together again after all that tragedy and we don't get to know about their day to day lives anymore. Just annoys me that it said it was 3 years or whatever before they married and even before that I wish to know from the beginning on it goes between them. From when Fitz first goes to Molly's place and asks if Nettle wishes to go too. Start from there to getting married and all the stuff thats going on around them and of Dutiful having a kid, how he and his new wife are doing, what Kettricken and Chade are doing, how Nettle is doing, so much damn stuff. Hobb should write an 800 page side book at the beginning of the re-devoloping relationship between Fitz and Molly and Nettle. It doesn't expain about when he finally leaves the castle, or why he's not still teaching the Skill. Or why it says he and Thick are just solo's now. And what of that weird Skill Pillar stuff where he vanished for a month and who is the person that keeps helping putting him back. Seems things got a little bad then. Everything went bad when he dissapeared, though obviously it got fixed in the end, I'm just talking now. Since Molly came to see him in the infirmary, Nettle was told the truth. Then I thought "ouch" when he went to Molly's room at the castle when the kids were there and told everything. I thought that was bad just dumping that on them all without talking to Molly about it first, atleast it worked out. Would be nice for them to have another daughter or something too, if Molly was still able.

See what happends? Now I rant. I guess all I can do is read The Sword of Shannara by Terry Brooks book that I have in front of me.

Re: Thoughts(Farseer Spoilers)

i was in the same boat as you. all i could think about was Fitz and Molly. What i ended up doing was reading all their scenes (except i have an audiobook so i listened). it gives better closure, and to us fitz and molly fans its more fulfilling. Start from when they met as kids, skip to when they met as teenages, and skip to how they got together again at 18. avoid all the bad stuff because it will just depress you. The skip to the ending knowing that they get together in the end regardless of everything they went through just makes it more impactful. Like you i trully wish we could get a side novel of Fitz and Molly in Witherwoods, but its not to be. After Reading specifically their "love story" over and over it becomes more powerful and beautiful. you can let them go easier because you know how happy they are.

Then Most importantly you have to move on and read another book with characters that are really involving. I highly recommend Pillars of the Earth, it has a couple in there that are so similar to Fitz and Molly in spirit, tho i wont say more to ruin it. Pillars of the earth is incredible. Also the best fantasy novel i read this year is the Curse of Chalion By Lois Mcmaster Bujold. The book is a goddamn masterpiece on every level. And the characters are supremely well done.

All in All, Fitz and Molly stay with us so potently because of Hobb's genius. their story made me so depressed after Assassins Quest that i almost regretted reading the novels. If i wasnt a little spoiled when i first came to this thread and discovered they ended up together, i would never ever have read tawny man. Think about it, if Fitz and Molly's story wasnt so tragic we wouldnt love them as much as we do. I like to look at it this way, they both made purposeful choices that led to their tragic seperation. IMHO they were together in hearts from when they were six till when they were 20. And then from 35 to death. Soul mates that finally do come together again. Tragic story but the ending was fufilling.

so read their love story over and over. you will be sated. Then move on to other books: i Highly Highly Highly recommend Curse of Chalion. I know thats how i dealt with it. Now even now when i think about Fitz and Molly it makes me quite sad, yet when i think about how they met, how they first got married in their hearts, how they first made love and how they got back together and got married living in a friggin castle to spend the rest of their... life doesnt quite get better than that. like fitz i am content.

The most important thing Hobb has taught me, is that when you meet the love of your life hold them tight because you can go a lifetime regretting it if you dont.

Re: Thoughts(Farseer Spoilers)

I think for me it will probably be best just to try to stop thinking about it. I don't think I'll read Liveship Traders any time soon, even though it's suppose to be good. And yeah, I was totally pissed off at the end of the Farseer Trilogy, I thought that was the end of it and the other series were about different characters and stuff. I wouldn't have read the last trilogy either if people didn't say I would like the ending, so I hoped it would be what exactly happend at the end. I also agree that they were always in eachothers hearts, even with Molly being with Burrich and having kids. She thought he was dead, she wouldn't have done it if she knew the truth. The best thing for me to do is go onto new series I think.

The Curse of Chalion sounds interesting. Is it just one book or a trilogy? Or more?

Re: Thoughts(Farseer Spoilers)

You can read it as a stand alone book, but it has a sequel called Paladin of Souls which won all the awards. I highly recommend both. you wont regret it

Re: Thoughts(Farseer Spoilers)

Well if you're recommending them then I guess I can assume is has a good ending. The description for the first one sounded interesting. I think I'll read The Sword of Shannara first since I have it here now. After I finish it's trilogy I'll go to the book store for those two books. Think thats the best I can plan for for now.

Re: Thoughts(Farseer Spoilers)

when you say good ending i hope you dont mean happy endings. Tragic endings are more often good than bad. Most important about endings should be about closure and less about happy or tragic. Assassins Quest ending was just messed up because Hobb likes to torture Fitz. In all my reading i dont think i have ever come accross a main character whose life is purely effed up beyond all recognition.

Re: Thoughts(Farseer Spoilers)

Well, I mean happy ending, like Molly and Fitz being married and living together and all. Obviously theres tragedy for the story and bad things happening all over the place, but I still want a good ending like Molly and Fitz. It's what makes it all worth reading then. If the chick the main character in this Chalcion book dies or something and theres no new chick that makes up for it and that you like, then I don't know if I wish to read it.

Re: Thoughts(Farseer Spoilers)

K, I'll read it after the current trilogy I'm going to start. I've had the Terry Brooks book for awhile, figured I might aswell finally read it before getting more new books.

Edit:
Just had a thought. If Hobb was cruel and didn't make it so Fitz and Molly were together, I think there was only one other woman for him. Kettricken. Of course it would have had to develop into such a relationship but they are really good friends. Plus poor Kettricken has no man in her life, only her son. Like she said, Fitz is the only one that knows her story from the beginning. But it ended good anyways, but just a thought.

[quote=Shingetsu;1003202] The best thing for me to do is go onto new series I think.

I really loved this story and the ending was fine with me. It stayed in my head as well. I had to start another trilogy to get rid of it. The other trilogy I started (which ended up being one of my ultimate favorites) was

THE BLACK JEWELS TRILOGY By Anne Bishop.

If you want something to read, this story is awesome. It comes in 3 books or you could get the 3 in 1 special edition that was printed. There is also an additional book she made to continue the story (sort of an extended epilogue, and also has other information, like background for some of the other characters, and history), to appease the fans who kept begging for more. She also wrote a stand alone book, that is based in the same world. Check it out, you won't be disappointed.

Re: Thoughts(Farseer Spoilers)

Black Jewels is certainly a good Trillogy (also one of my favs) but be forwarned - tis a dark and gritty tale within those covers!

As an aside - Tickle, have you read her other series - the Pillars of Creation (or hte world - I get the two titles mixed up)

Ah, I was having a hard time deciding what to read next actually and that series was on my list. I re-read the description, I think I may go with that. Thanks.
