Who wants to live in an Ewok Village?

Ananova - Ewok houses for sale

Ewok houses for sale

Star Wars fans with £74,000 to spare can now buy their very own Ewok-style tree houses.

Canadian carpenter Tom Chudleigh's Free Spirit Spheres are suspended in trees and accessible by rope bridges.

The 11ft wide eco-friendly houses can sleep four, allowing families to live in the forest without the need to worry about their carbon footprint.

The hand-crafted wooden spheres are constructed using boat building techniques and are coated in fibreglass making them waterproof and robust.

Inside, they are kitted out with a fully equipped kitchen with a microwave, fridge and sink. The rest of the interior, including loft beds and bronze doors can be custom ordered.

Mr Chudleigh, from Vancouver, said: "Uses for these durable Spheres are limited only by one's imagination.

"The objective of this project is to be able to move into the rainforest and have an experience of it - with as little impact as possible."

Tom is now designing a sphere which will hold a washroom, shower and sauna.

The spheres take three people no more than three days to put up and can be ordered from home.

Prices start at around £22,000 for just the sphere or £74,000 for a complete, hand crafted house.

That's a very good point, OR. I'm not sure I could live in something like that. I like the idea of a tree-borne city, and I like the idea in general, but the shape of that house doesn't appeal to me.

I never thought about the Health and Safety, or the Insurance!

I was reading about this company that do Dinners whilst you are suspended in the air:
Dinner in the Sky

They have done these events all over Europe (and have one planned for the UK) and some of the rest of the World, but the Insurance costs in the USA make it unprofitable.

Wow...I'm not afraid of heights, but I think I'd struggle with that! I'd keep hoping that I didn't drop my fork...

Seriously, though, it's a nice idea for people who want to eat out, although not for everyone, I'd imagine.

To me they look like Mini-Death Stars. I'm not sure they are doing the Ewoks any justice by designing their houses on something that was within a few seconds of blowing them up!

Now if those ropes were elasticated, I wonder how far into the lake you could launch that "home".

I was going to use the term "death trap", but was 'worried' that it might not sink (), and about the willingness of the company to resort to litigation ().

URSA! Again with the puns!

I hope the ropes are elasticised. Now everyone, listen up. On the count of three jump. One...Two...Three! How fun!
